Awesome teacher. Very helpful and explains concepts in a way that's very easy to understand. All you have to do is watch his videos to get an A. It's that simple.

Dr. Archibald is a very detail-oriented professor. He demonstrates how to learn to program by behaving as if he is at the same competency level as the students in the course -- he goes slowly, at the right pace for understanding and follows a consistent troubleshooting process for finding and fixing mistakes.

Honestly don't take this teacher, you will struggle a lot. He can teach you a little bit about programming with his Java videos but the assignments are way different and makes you do stuff that he never taught you. When you ask for help in one of the assignments he will just give you "hints" which might as well not just ask him questions.

It was online and consisted of watching videos and doing assignments. Not too easy but if you refer to his videos then you will do OK. Midterm and finals are on paper. If you study and understand the concepts then you will pass with an A. He is easy to get in touch with on skype. I recommend him for this class.

He gave a confusing assignment that listed off things that he required for it I submitted several days early and asked if I missed anything to please tell me and i would fix it. He more or less called me an idiot and told me to find a tutor. All his lessons are from several years ago which you can see from the Programs he uses for 2006. He's horrid

Although his videos are somewhat helpful, his clarity regarding assignments is terrible. Almost every assignment will have a part that requires you to do something far from your current skill level in respect to the curriculum. Usually, related info is faintly if at all touched upon in the videos. You will be very frustrated if you're new to java.

He was really no help at all. You sit and watch his monotonous voice then do his assignments which are confusing since neither he nor the textbook help you with.

Awesome teacher! I think this has been the best class I've taken at Valencia. Challenging but reasonable. Pay attention to the video, and read the book. If you're stuck, you can typically contact Dr. A on skype. He is always willing to help. You won't like his Mid-term or Final, because it is paper and pencil. Do the assignments and you will be ok

Brought a lot beyond just writing code, like upcoming events, course offerings, scholarship opps, which was very helpful. Class time was usually included him teaching a concept, most classes he'd ask what we want to talk about, also he'd give us in class problems, then discus. He also has some very good instructional videos online.

I had his intro to programming concepts last summer and I ADORED him. Currently taking his intro to Java course. It was a hybrid, and I'll admit that the in-class time was semi-useless, because he openly prefers teaching online. His videos are super informative and easy to follow, but if you dont enjoy programming you wont enjoy his class.

Absolutely amazing teacher. He this way of remembering how he learned things so he understands the pitfalls of programming. The best part is that he's interesting and he knows how to excite people into mentally stimulating thought and conversation, regardless of your proficiency in the subject. Talk to him after class sometime. Bet teacher I've had

Awesome professor, very helpful and knowledgeable. Yes, he cracks corny jokes, but honestly I found it to be a kind of funny and quirky trait rather than an annoying one. I wouldn't call him an easy A, but if you put in the work an A is not difficult. I love Dr.A and can't wait to take him again next semester!

Most boring monotone voice EVER. Cracks bad jokes & when no1 laughs he tries to call the class out on not being funny. Can't hear him usually because his voice is so low/monotone. Student is REQUIRED to watch hour long videos listening to him explain the same thing OVER AND OVER in his boring voice, puts you to sleep. Enjoys insulting students.

Very Good Teacher. If you work Hard You will Definately get "A" the only thing bad is no calc. no computer Just pencil and paper to write code in midterm and Final. 11 Assignments were easy. I didn't do Good on Final that is why I got B. Other wise It was a smooth sail

Amazing professor. 11 easy assignments due the entire semester, he is an awesome teacher that doesn't mind humor in his class, every now and then you'll hear his Canadian accent slip out.His midterm and final are handwritten which requires a thourough understanding of the subject, but as long as you pay attention and review you'll be fine.Take him.
