I took Slappy's class three years ago (Fall '09) and was completely disappointed. We never used the textbook, rarely discussed actual course topics, and usually just listened to him telling stories about himself and his life rather than actual lectures. It can be an easy A if you go do all the extra credit he offers, but difficult if you also work.

I have never had a worse professor. He was not only a bad teacher, he was consistently rude and malicious towards his students.

I have never had a worse professor. He was rude and unpleasant, and we didn't learn anything.

Was very disappointing. His name speaks for himself Slappy. It's a self-study class because he did teach you. You don't know when is test is going to be or what a project will require for you to do. We had many extra points available, so people who did not read for the exam can pass the class. His "quick and dirty" style of teaching is unacceptable.

I'm sure Slappy at one point was a great teacher, however, being that now he's more interested in discussing his arthritis and reflections on his life, I found his lectures pointless, and that I learned more about Sociology on my own time then ever in his class. Easy A, but if you're actually interested in this field, find someone else.

Great instructor. Mr. Slappy encourages students to apply the course to reality. There is a lot of class interaction and his lectures are fun :)

Not a challenging course at all, and is an ?easy A?. Downside is that the lectures and assignments do not teach one a great deal about sociology. You won?t learn much from his ?quick and dirty? teaching style. However, he is very kind and gives a ton of extra credit (but you won?t need it!).

Difficult test...apply readings to society, but as he says, " High School is down the street."

This teacher seems like a really good guy and funny. He didn't actually teach that much...his "quick and dirty" approach to explaining social problems and terms left myself and the rest of the class lacked structure and ultimately made it hard to gain any real knowledge.

Charles Slappy is **** to end all ****s. His class was both informative and hysterical(lots of real-life examples). He's passionate about his subject matter, and seems to genuinely care about his students. You have to actually TRY to fail this class.

Mr. Slappy is hysterical! He is wise, and just a really cool, nice guy. Great class experience! I used to write down the funny things he would say so I could read them if I needed laugh later.

Listen, this class is an easy "A" like previous comments have suggested, but don't go in expecting some world altering lectures. He basically defines the vocab terms to fill his lectures which completely turns me off to a teacher. However, he seems like a really nice person whose outside life (he is big on volunteering) is far more inspiring.

good teacher loved his class. I took 2 classes under him and would take another if I needed it.
