I wish more professors were like Barajas. He teaches because he is passionate about it and it isn't just a paycheck like other professors I've had at Sac State. He is super nice and always available to help! I enjoyed all his assignments,DO the readings helpful & interesting! Study guides for exams!

He is a passionate professor, but his lectures are unstructured and become repetitive over the course of the semester. You learn a lot about his life growing up in the fields, and little about the theories and research related to Chicano Studies.

This class was interesting all of Professor Barajas personal stories tie into class and you can tell he is very passionate about the material. 2 presentations which he grades fair if you actually put in good effort. A midterm and take home final paper that can be difficult if you procrastinate. Over in all good class and would recommend.

Dr. Barajas is amazing! Lots of reading but he has notes online that help a great deal. Midterm was identical to the study guide. He goes above and beyond to help his students, all you have to do is ask. Best professor I've had to date.

The sweetest professor I've ever had. He's incredibly humble and will give you a good grade if he sees an effort is being made. The class itself wasn't hard but because of his character, you want to try to challenge yourself and please him with knowledge on the topic. The lectures are a bit confusing but it's only because he's passionate

His class is easy. Have one easy presentation and a group presentation. His study guide is straight forward to what he expect from his tests. I would recommend anyone to take his class and I would take him again.

He is a humble professor and at a glance once would not believe he has a phd. His topics and videos are interesting and definitely things you don't learn unless immigration and Chicano studies are topics you researched before. I did not like however the fact that when you present him with an opinion he simply says "good point" rather than validating or rejecting it. He is very knowledgeable and provides unclear outlines but great study guides :)! RECOMMEND HIM!

I had this professor for SOC118 and I really liked him as did my roommate who is also a SOC major. Some people complain on here that he tells a lot of person stories, which he does but they PERTAIN TO THE CLASS and help you understand the concepts on the test. Go to class, pay attention, skim the reading, do the study guides & you will get an A/B.

I've taken Prof Barajas several times and just love him. I think he is extremely passionate about his teaching and I found him inspiring! Attendance isn't mandatory but it sure helps when it comes to tests. He is super approachable and there to assist.

This teacher is an easy A although his lectures are painfully boring. He is very bias and if you are even slightly conservative you will constantly be enraged in his class. I will never take this professor ever again!

I agree with previous posters that this instructor is very opinionated and berates you if you disagree or pose questions. I found him to be very defensive. He portrays himself as a victim but how much has he really experienced in his ivory tower? He makes interesting points, I just wish he modeled the behavior he seeks.

If you cant handle the truth then dont take this course because Barajas speaks the truth. He is a real teacher that makes his lectures very interesting. Overall,he is one of the most interesting teachers i have had. And for the ones saying he is **** are just sensative people and would never make it if they were minorities.

A lot of group discussion only because he doesn't know what to say if somebody asks him a really good question. Says that he encourages students with different opinions to speak up but when they do, they get not a very good grade. I was one of those students. If you take this class just shut up, say and write only what he wants to hear.

I took him for for diferent SOc Class. SOC 118,120,122 & 125. He requires alot of reading which is helpful when it comes 1 midterm and your final 10 page paper. At times it seems boring but if you dont speak during discussions then it will be. He is a GREAT PROF. who can relate to many students.

Professor Barajas is one of the best instructors at Sac State. He opened my eyes to the way we interact with each other and as long as you are willing to listen and entertain other points of views I think his class is a worthwhile experience. He is extremely passionate about teaching and his struggles as a man of color lends to his credibility.

Biased teacher that doesn't listen to any opinion that doesn't agree with his. Doesn't answer questions asked. All text is selected by him to fit his personal agenda. Never before has a class been so painfully frustrating. Basically a pity party. -Opps that would be considered ****.
