Dr. Schrer was awesome. He is passionate about the material and stimulates class discussion. He works extremely hard to prepare for the class and expects you to as well. Most CCJ courses ive taken have been cake. Definitely one of the most difficult CCJ courses at the school but Schrer makes the material interesting.
CCJ 450C
Good teacher. Knows his stuff but the whole time you are confused on what he wants. You get 4 to 5 cases a semester to solve with a group and present every 2-3 weeks. He will question your information when you present so be prepared. Tons of research as well. The amount of work you do is what your grade is based off of.

Low textbook use because you do tons of outside research. The class was a bit tough, but as long as you apply yourself, then it will be the best class you will take. Dr. Schehr is one of the best professors in the CCJ Department. He is passionate about what he teaches and he is always willing to clarify and answer questions. Take this capstone!

He is an excellent professor and he is extremely passionate about what he does. Go to his class prepared and you'll be rewarded for it. He likes people that know what they're talking about. He isn't bad on the eyes, so that's always a bonus.

Best. Teacher. Ever. He loves what he's teaching and has the world's best stories. Lots of external reading, but I've learned a lot. This is the class I paid the most attention to! I loved it!

He is by far one of the best professors I have ever had. He is always engaging his students in critical thinking and is very captivating regardless of the subject content. I would highly recommend taking as many courses with him as you possible can.

He has a very interesting class, his tests are much easier than i expected them to be. Only downside was that he required a police ridealong and visit to courthouse. He is really bad at giving you back papers and usually does not post grades on vista. I would take him again.

I really didn't care for his teaching style with staring you in your eyes for seconds at a time and badgering you to answer questions. The class was a joke and not what I expected from a capstone. Some of his assignments were weird and his grading makes no sense. Talking to him about assignments doesn't help either ... who knows what he looks for.

This class was super weird...I thought being the senior capstone class it would be the best class CCJ would have to offer but I soon found the class was over rated. So disappointed

Assignments are a little weird, but at least there are no tests. Also, lectures are way random.

What is wrong with you all? This guy is an incessant ranter! He doesn't have any apparent lecture outline and screams at everyone. I actually agree with most of his views, but can't stand listening to him because of his presentation. Avoid him if you don't want a massive headache.

Very good professor and is an extremely interesting lecturer. He is so passionate about what he does and it comes through into his teaching. Loved him and I feel so lucky to have been able to take a class with him. However, you MUST read the textbooks. Not bad looking either.

The class is wrongful convictions...such a wonderful class. I took it my second to last semester at NAU (just graduated in december 2004 and just found this site). He's very passionate about his work, cares for his students, always willing to help. and he's a hottie! Got beautiful girls too.

The guy loves what he does and makes his classes very interesting. Not to mention he isn't hard on the eyes at all. One hot professor. I didn't like that he made us write rough drafts of our research projects but that is a personal preferance of mine.
