This class was...something. It was really difficult. He kept lecturing all the time and I had difficulty understanding the material. He only gave three assignments throughout the semester, which is terrifying. They were short, 2-page essays that involved a lot of thinking! I also needed coffee before the class or else I would fall asleep.

The man is special. A mad genius. Quirky for sure. One of my favorite professors by far. Very funny at times. Doesn't care much for grades/homework. Just there to share with those interested. A very good man, I think.

Professor Rubin knows something about EVERYTHING! He's one of those intelligent/slightly crazy Profs. Unfortunately 75% of my class played computer games during lectures. I thought it was rude but Rubin didn't seem to mind.

This professor is brilliant. He lived up to his reputation and I found him to be very personable once he warms to you. He's also very very funny, which I didn't expect. While the material is fairly complex, the class is kick-back. Consequently it was plagued with the stoned /slacker/laptop crowd which was a bummer. Good for a 5th class as it's easy

LOVED HIS CLASS! He doesn't always stay on topic, but whatever he talks about is crazy and interesting. I feel like he could dominate at Jeopardy. The class had little work, and as long as you did you reading you were fine. I would take the class again in a heartbeat.

Genius. Fountain of knowledge. Always willing to answer questions and will probably give you a much deeper and extended answer than you expect. Wonderful characeter. Not a teacher for those who like concrete textbooks and structure. Just here to share his knowledege of interesting things. Recomended for those who are willing to engage themselves

Rubin is a very great teacher and a fountain of knowledge. Classes consist of him mostly posing questions to himself and lecturing to himself but if you follow him and do what work is required (very little) and interact during lectures you will learn a very great deal.

Interesting...but very strange. He can be moody and standoffish when approached outside of class, but he can also be warm and inviting. A strange mix to say the least, go here only ye searching for adventure.

Great geneous teacher. This man is just a foutain of knowledge. A little odd but extremely talented. His philosophy on teaching is that the student should be there because he/she wants to learn. He lectures/speaks and it is your job to comment and soak it in. This class is all about what you take out of it.

Take a class from Rubin if you want to hear him talk about Aikido, how smart he thinks he is or his 'issues' with the Pitzer Administration. Rubin didn't care to actually teach anything and finals consisted of doing a tarot reading. **Research Rubin and his history with Pitzer, talk to the faculty and have them relate some of his bizarre antics**

rubin is an eccentric, and wonderfully so. he mostly lectures to himself but the information that spills forth is arranged in a way you'd never think to consider. quite enlightening and fancifully mad.

Rubin is funny, but out of his mind. Plus, I think he gives you grade accroding to mood, not merrit. I got all As on papers but ended the semester with a B+, yet my roomates got both got a B+ yet their grades on papers were not nearly as high. Ridiculous.
