Econ201 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: What textbook? Rater Interest: Meh Grade Received: N/A

Terrible! Tou think a prof could answer e-mails since it is an online class.nope. Tompkins puts in low level of effort at best. Very confusing questions on assignment and never states his expectations or what the fvck he wants for an answer. If your thinking of taking a class from him DON'T it will only cause head aches and frustration.

Definitely one of my favourite profs in my time at the University. Very fair and generous marker and his classes do not have an overload of work. Assignments are straight forward and easy to comprehend. I definitely recommend him as one of the best options among the economic professors at the University.

Great prof possibly the best I've ever had. Made class really interesting. Highly recommend him as he is a very flexible and understanding guy. However he may be difficult for introductory econ classes

He is horrible at getting back to emails. Took his online course and getting him to reply was almost impossible. The assignments seem to have little to do with the material and I had trouble with a lot of it. I would have liked to get feedback and answers to emails within a day or two instead of a few days or none at all..

Tough class in my opinion, he was kinda dull and boring but he was an average teacher, he expected students to know too much about economics for an introductory course. Really helpfull in office hours.

Econ is hard, and it may have been better had i taken it from a different prof, but gary really knows what he is talking about. His examples really put the material into context, but it can be very difficult to study off these come exam time. Approachable, and is willing to help on assignments, that is if you can find him in his office hours.

I am usually good at math, but had nooo idea how to do the assignments! Your only chance is if you can make it to the help session, but they're at awkward times. He is bad at explaining concepts and gives lots or irrelevant examples. Do NOOOTTT take this class from him!

DO NOT TAKE FROM HIM!! I could not understand at all what he was talking about the entire semester and I had to teach myself the material from the book. He talks so fast, doesn't make any sense, and he talks in examples. The class was really hard!!

Probably a good prof for higher level economics classes, but for ECON 201, I'd highly recommend avoiding him. He talked in examples which made it very hard to apply concepts to actual assignment or test questions. He pulled a lot of things out of the air. Not a good introductory course.

Terrible incomprehensible writing, gives no examples of how to solve equations. Did not show up for first few classes and left seemingly no guidline for unprepared subs.

This guy is terrible. He's all over the place in his lectures, and his assignments have very little to do with the material in the text book. He gives very few mathematical examples. He usually just puts the formulas on the board, but won't work them. Good luck with this guy if you struggle with math!

Do not take a class from this guy if you have problems with math. He spends a ton of time drawing graphs and putting up numbers. But fails to explain how he comes up with the numbers. He expects everyone to know algebra. I've gone to him asking questions, but won't go through solutions step by step. I leave more confused than when I went to him.

Very flexible guy, likes to help out students. Keeps lectures interesting. He is the only prof that can teach math (mathematical economics in this case) to me and keep me awake, and I love math.

The math. econ. class he teaches goes at a fast pace (as do most of him classes) so if you're smart you'll like the pace but if you have difficulty it may be going too fast for you. Dr. T is helpful if you struggle with the material. He keeps the lectures interesting and he's a fair marker.

Dr. Tompkins is an awesome professor and I have nothing but the highest of praise for his lecturing abilities and his ability to make you learn. With Gary, you sink or swim, and its all up to you. If you decide to swim, Dr. Tompkins will really help you. I think he is an awesome Professor! Tompkins likes his Math, so know it, especially Math 122.

Tompkins really likes math. If you're taking ECON 401, you will have trouble if you aren't good at math, but you'll learn some interesting math tools. The midterm was brutal, but he seems to mark easily sometimes. Tompkins has very interesting lectures, and he doesn't drag on like other profs. He's also pretty funny.

Good guy, great class, but if he doesn't agree with your opinion then don't expect a good mark in the class
