Primov is amazing. His lectures are pretty independent from the assigned readings but they definitely do compliment one another. He has awesome stories and experiences, is super approachable and very passionate about sociology. You're not going to want to miss a class, but make sure you read if you expect to do well on the exams.

This class is a reachable A but not an easy one. You MUST read the textbook and keep up with the lectures. Tests are 50 MC with 1/2 from book 1/2 from lectures. 5 exams. Interesting lecturer. I enjoyed the class, just a lot of work to get an A.

Awesome professor! I wish so badly I could take another class with him. His class isn't easy but I learned so much and received an A-.

This professor gives a lecture every class and assigns two chapters per test. He is great. he makes the material so interesting with his real life example from when he traveled the world. I'm currently taking another of his classed

I find his lectures very interesting, but when it comes to his tests, they're pretty hard. A little more than half comes from the textbook and those questions from the textbook are vague... It's hard to study for the textbook ques on the test. He also doesn't curve grades and doesn't give pluses or minuses.

Not great. Although a passionate lecturer, his tests are surprisingly hard, and to do well on them, you would probably have to read the whole textbook, which is quite boring. If I could just sit in on his class without the tests, I absolutely would, but with grades, it's not too worth it.

What a terrible person. His tests require so much effort just to get a B. I've spent more time studying for this class than Orgo and I'm still not sure i will get an A. Do not take this guy, he should at least curve. He's so unfair.

Very unfair tester. He doesnt curve even if everyone in the class gets a B, he wont care. His tests are 54% off the book that he never teaches or opens in class, the other 46% comes from the lectures. He is very picky with the textbook questions too. I got an A but had to spend so much unnecessary time studying for this class. Dont pick him

Awesome teacher. Really cool guy. Sat through a class taught by him before attending UM. Was so pleasantly surprised to see he was the same professor I had for Intro. The fact that 1st semester Freshman year I woke up at 8am 2x per week for his course and didn't mind is a testament to his awesomeness.

His lectures are funny and very interesting, however I did not find a strong correlation between lecture material and test material. I read all of the chapters from the book, and I felt that he asked many detailed, random questions that would not seem to have big picture importance. If you work very hard you will probably get a B.

he is very eccentric--can't think of any better word to describe him. he makes the basics of sociology fun by providing examples from his world travels and life experiences. he is difficult to meet with outside of class if you need additional help, but the class itself is great

He's a nice/funny guy, his lectures are interesting, and there's always a discussion at the end. Reading and outlining the textbook along with going to class is 100% necessary. With a lot of studying you're lucky to get a B.

I like this class. The tests aren't hard if you pay attention and read the book. The professor is well traveled and really knows what he's talking about. He is also always interested in what the students think and a lot of the class is discussion based. Pretty easy A.

The worst class I've had by far. Lots of people seem to like him for regular soc101, but his honors class was brutal. The lectures were boring and the tests were HORRIBLE. Only 2 questions per test, one from class and one from the textbook. The questions were often unfair and it was impossible to get a good grade. Seriously - don't take this class.

He is really interesting and funny in class, but his tests HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH HIS LECTURES. The tests are all DIRECTLY from the textbook which i am pretty sure HE NEVER EVEN READ. Overall, he is a good guy and knows his stuff, but if you want a good grade in his class you have to read the whole text book.

His class isn't that hard if you actually take notes and study rather than going on facebook. Most of the test comes from his lectures. He's really funny and has a lot of experience in his field. He's actually a nice guy and will answer your questions. He also has a lot of interesting stories from his many years or research. Study & you'll get an A

This professor is really good. His lectures are extremely interesting, he doesn't take attendance and you actually learn stuff because he loves having open discussion on issues. Because of him I'm debating on minoring in sociology. Favorite class all year by far :)

Really interesting guy! His lectures are entertaining and informative, and he forces some class participation, often asking students what they think, which was quite nice. Has also done a lot of field research so good stories. MUST read textbook and take good notes and class, but getting an A shouldn't be too hard if you put some effort in.

Super awesome class, definitely my favorite one last semester. He makes it so interesting. After taking his class I am considering taking up a minor in sociology. If you read the book carefully and take good notes in class it won't be hard to get an A!
