"Tough Grader"

Not recommending anyone to take his history courses if it is your first history course at Rye. He pretty much expects you to know what you're supposed to talk about and mention either on your essays or exams. His lectures are pretty important to attend, unless you're willing to read the entire textbook.

Great prof! He is funny and his lectures are very easy to follow along. Tests are fair and essays are long, start early on them and your good. Fair marker on essays, easy for tests. Overall, great guy I would take another one of his classes.

David is honestly hilarious. His course was one of the only that fit in my schedule (thanks Ryerson), but without a doubt I would take a course with him again! He's also got this civil-war-looking hot thing going on. I'd do it.

"Clear grading criteria" "Would take again" "Amazing lectures"

He is an amazing professor, interesting lecturer, incredibly knowledgable on the subject and a fair marker. I would take all his classes if i could! He tells you want to focus on for the exams and you can get a good mark without purchasing a textbook because he tells you what's important to know during his lectures.

This professor's funny, somewhat engaging (History can get kind of dry) and he cares. However, don't fall behind in the readings. They'll help. All in all, this guy's a keeper!

Love Mackenzie!! He's adorable in that geeky way! He's not afraid to crack a joke or go on tangants to make a point. Very fair marker, charismatic, I learned so much. Wide range of essay topics which is always nice. Very approachable, always willing to help out. He's an amazing prof, take a class with him, you won't regret it, I promise!

Professor Mackenzie is the best professor I have had at Ryerson! He makes history very interesting. He makes some lame jokes, but you find yourself laughing anyways! Attendance is a MUST because the textbook does not cover nearly as much as he does in class. A very fair marker! I recommand taking at least one history class with him whenever you can

One of the best professors at Ryerson, highly recommended!I never knew Canadian History could be so interesting! He uses no slides and doesn't write on the board so attendance is mandatory.

Here is the breakdown: Class test (which is short - 1 hour) worth 10%; Essay (6-8 page research paper) worth 30%; Final exam (longer, but very straightforward) 40%; and tutorials (4 per semester, only need to do readings for these 4 tutorials) worth 20%. MacKenzie is a great prof. Show up + do tutorial readings = good mark!!

Canadian revolution course is great! Makes material amazing. Dont buy the book, just go to every class and write down every word. Not a hard marker at all. If you can write a good essay you'll get an A, if you still lack a bit you can get a B. Extreamly fair marker. Tests and assignments on exactly what he says.

Any prof who can make history interesting is worthwhile in my books. Kind of geeky, but will make you laugh. Lectures are very well structured, and almost like stories - you can't help but listen to see what happens next. Pretty fair marker. Take his courses if you get the chance.

David is such a strange and funny professor. He's really into what he teaches and references popular movies a lot. He should do a movie and history course. He covers a lot of material and his exams seem to be a bit random but he's a fairly easy marker, I think.

Best professor/lecturer I've had in three years at Ryerson, hands-down. A fantastic, fantastic prof who can make any topic interesting. Moreover, I've taken two of his classes, and the amount of information I've retained has been incredible -- and unprecedented. Go out of your way to take a class with him, you'll be glad you did.

Great prof! Makes greeky jokes that keep you laughing. Very good lectures, just take good notes. Fairly easy midterm/exam. His essay marker is hard though. But he is nice and pleasant. Participate a lot in the tutorials to get a good mark.

Absolutely amazing prof. He's really interesting to listen to. He knows enough about history that he's a great storyteller and he doesn't need to use notes. This is honestly the first history class I've ever taken that's been really engaging and fascinating.
