She can be very opinionated in her lectures to the point where it is distracting. There arent many assignments so do well on what you do in the class.

I do not attend the lectures, and barely read the book. I simply go to the discussion sections on Fridays and take notes and I have a B in the class. Very easy.

Such a good teacher. There's a lot of writing and you HAVE to keep up with the reading, but if you follow her instructions, you'll do well. Syllabus well done, and she sticks to it.

Terrific professor. Expects A LOT from her students, but you will learn in the process. Sometimes her lectures are a bit esoteric, but for the most part she gets her points across. Great addition to the history department.

I'll admit, I missed more than my fair share of her classes and that probably reflected badly on my grade. However, she is an extremely fair teacher. She is truly knowledgeable about her subjects. You have to do the readings and study, but it's like any other class that's worthwhile and will pay off in the end.

She expects a lot from you, and you MUST do the readings (which is a lot) to even begin to do well in the class. Go to class and take plenty of notes and it will be easier. She is extremely knowledgable in her subject and you can learn a lot as long as you're willing to do the work. All in all, I really like her, and loved the class-but it is hard

Knows the material well but cannot effectively relay it. There is a TON of reading but that should be expected at this level, but she also approaches the class as if it is the only one students are taking. Grading is very arbitrary and provides zero feedback. I knew the material inside and out & got a B. Very biased & opinionated. Unpleasant.

There is a lot of work for this class. She knows her material really well. Her lectures are also interesting. There is a lot of reading for this course. There is also a lot of writing, repeat a lot.

Knowledgeable, but presents her lectures haphazardly. Clarity is not one of her strong points. Lots of reading but grading is fair, class is not extremely difficult but she is a poor teacher overall. Highly opinionated and it shows in lectures. I will never take another course she teaches!

A very honest teacher. Like most history courses, the amount of reading she assigns can seem overwhelming at points, but it is manageable. Also, you will probably not have to read all of the course texts listed at the beginning of the semester. She is dedicated to the class and presents the time period in a clear, easy to understand manner.

Intelligent and knowledge on the subject material. Presents in an unbiased manner and has a genuine passion for teaching the history. I personally enjoy history and of the many classes and professors/teachers I've had in it she is my favorite collegiate level instructors in this subject.

She is very passionate about what she is teaching, but expects students to keep up their end of the bargain. To do well, one must take their own notes and at least skim the text.

She is very knowledgeable. however, there is a lot of reading and material coverage which goes extremely quickly. She is not helpful in providing study tips for tests, and the class is a bit overwhelming.

Very good teacher who has a passion for what she is talking about. She makes the class interesting and assigns very readable books. Only people who give her bad ratings are probably the lazy ones who don't do their work. You actually need to show up for lectures and study for the tests. Show up and do the required work and a B is very doable.

If you were interested in the subject, I couldn't even imagine falling asleep in her lectures. I think a lot of the time with the 200-level class many of the students aren't history majors so that don't understand what is required in history classes above the 100-level. She always picks out great books.

This class was a lot of work and the essay topics were occasionally difficult to work through, but she is a great professor. Lectures were interesting. If you take her, you'll learn a lot and improve your writing, but you have to be willing to put in time.
