Very enthusiastic. Class was a little wobbly at times (unsure what was going on) but he was very encouraging and helpful. | ||

amazing teacher. ive heard for the lower division people didnt like him but for upper div hes really enthusiastic and his class is easy to get a good grade in. definetly take a class with him and you'll pass easy | ||

If you must take this awful, awful class, be sure to get Jill Briggs as your TA. Far and away the best TA I have ever had (I took the class my final quarter at UCSB), and rather cute. Marcuse is cool, but the class is utter garbage. | |

Took Marcuse's German history class, it was great. Hist 2C, however, was the worst course I took at UCSB. Utterly worthless. Only people I can imagine learning anything are freshman with no idea what college-level history is. Essentially a historical theory class, no actual history involved. Stick to Marcuse's upper division stuff, trust me. | |

Honestly a lot of students make him out to be the "intellectual prof" but at least for this world history course he focused a lot of HIS theory of history, gave very sporadic lectures to illustrate his points, and didn't seem to make a huge effort at making a lower-div world history course all that interesting. I've heard his upper-div stuff is fun | ||
