Some lectures interesting but,he does not like to answer questions even when he is verbally describing a math problem. Class is ?taught?in all lecture no book no notes for reference. In our lab the TA?sless informed than the students.TA?s Sara&Sarah helpful.TA in my lablost assignments&Parrotlost one of my tests! It was horrible, stressful&worst exper

Everything is based off of his lectures. If you miss a class your pretty much behind on the course. A recorder is the most helpful thing in the class. He doesn't do anything except show up to class and lectures. Everything else is done by the TA so hopefully you get a good TA who knows what they are doing. Extremely hard class.

This class was so hard! There is tons of work and he likes having his class early in the morning with labs on a different day than class. So you get the joy of going 4 days a week for this class. He will explain a LONG math problem verbally and thats it. He acts surprised when people ask him to write it on the board so we can see what to do.

Lectures are filled with tales of his world travels and running, his favorite sport. He tries to connect this to the material and it is often a stretch. He states in the begining that 80% of test material is from the book and 20% from lecture. True! READ THE BOOK and pay attention to details and you'll pass. Huge grading curve too.

Attendance is not mandatory but you will need to attend class to get his lectures. This class is BASED on verbal lectures. The labs are easy. His exams are moderate if you study right. He tries to accommodate to his students. VERY nice guy and great teacher. Not an easy class but you learn a lot. One downside is that his TAs are horrible.

Found the course and textbook extremely boring. READ the book & pay attn to details. Spends a majority of class time talking about his world travels. Slides were somewhat confusing & NOT available online. Attendance not mandatory. 1 huge term paper. 5-6 exams. Grades on huge curve. D = A in our class

Did the work, got an "A" and a diagnosed panic attack at the end of the semester. Avoid Parrot. Nice guy but his lectures are vague, his test questions random, his TA's idiotic and disorganized. This class will haunt your dreams, even if you're a hardworking student. Also the workload is unbelievable, essentially it's two classes in one. Beware!

he spends all of lecture time talking about his world travels. that's all fine, but then he makes a lame attempt at tying his stories to the material. he then tests on a book that he admits to never reading. his ta writes the test. that average grade is a low D then he curves. avoid him if you want to learn anything.

Attend. isn't required but if you miss one class you're basically screwed. Any random thing he says in class could be on the test. You rely on your lab time to fully understand everything. Doesn't curve tests. Likes when students struggle, but will help if you ask the right questions. Don't be scared to ask; everyone else is prob just as confused.

Puts the fear back in statistics. No text, info is handed out piecemeal. In lab students huddle together to teach each other while he waxes on about his calculus class 30 yrs ago, his world travels, his venom for Bush and how privileged he is...& you're not. Try 1 of the other 3 so-so choices and hope for a C.

I don't know what everyone is saying. Parrott is an awesome teacher, he's older so he knows what's out there and he will steer you in the right direction. If you are interested in Grad school, Parrott is definitely a good connection to have. He's a little hard to follow in class, but everything gets cleared up in the labs.

He is a really friendly guy, but we had some take home tests with statistics, and he did not teach statistics very well in class at all. I did well on the written tests (which you have to study all your notes really well for by the way), but I pretty much failed the statistics part. He's cool, but make sure you get help from lab people!

Do not take his class! He is a fun teacher but lectures are completly irrelevant. Frankly I am not sure what he is teaching, maybe jogging, his passion. I had a really high GPA until I took his class. Now I avoid anything he teaches.

Parrott's crazy, and yes he likes women - BUT NOT to an inappropriate degree that I have seen. He has been around here teaching for A LONG time and you can tell he is enjoying life. A tough subject, no book, I was impressed. RECORD IN RESEARCH METHODS!!!
Psyc130
He sometimes seems to think he is a history teacher and throws in distorted and factually wrong information to give support to his personal beliefs. Generally he appears to be more interested in teaching his world view than class relevant issues.

You get to watch movies and write papers on them not to difficult. Then ugh..show up you'll get an A.

It is so difficult to fail his classes. If someone wants just a passing grade, all you have to do is put in a bit of effort and thats it. If you want more though, you have to work at it.

Parrot is the WORST professor at Sacramento State. Women- stay away. He's has sexually harrassed students in the past, and this should be a warning to others to stay away. Tell the Dept. Chair immed. if he says anything inappropriate.

He's great if you don't mind egomaniacs that base their entire classes, including their research methods classes, on their own boring self absorbed life story. He's a controlling ego maniac, unprofessional in billions of ways, and WAYYYY past the need to retire....Why the psych department keeps thi

He is kind of scattered and lazy but you will cover everything you are supposed to cover. I don't reccomend going to his office hour if you are female unless you like old men trying to flirt with you (in a harmless way.) The lab attached was a joke I knew SPSS better than the TA within a week. The T
