GLY1103
I have taken Abbott for both Geology 1101 and Geology 1103. He is very nice and is very helpful. He is not the most interesting soul to listen to but his tests are straight from the book and the material online that supports the textbook. Take him if you can! And go to class because some exam questions are from videos that he shows in class.

I never showed up to class for lecture. There was no point. When I did come, I just zoned out or fell asleep. He was incredibly dull. However, he is an excellent and easy lab professor. I recommend someone else for class but him for lab.

Attendance NOT mandatory. 3 tests. final is 20 questions taken from each test plus new questions. final is 60% of your grade. Read the book, know the terms you will be fine.

Professor Abbott tells you exactly when every test takes place throughout the semester and explains which chapters to study for each exam. He curves exams so the class average equals 75%. 60 of the 160 items on the final exam come straight from exams we already took. Very reasonable. I got an A and plan to take him again for GLY1103. Very nice guy.

Dont go to class its pointless. Study the quizzes online and READ and youll get a good grade the tests are hard and the final is 60% of the grade

It's physically impossible to stay alert in this class. Only about 1/6 of the class shows up to lecture since he doesn't take attendance. If you read the chapters on your own time though, you'll get a decent grade in the class.

Abbott knows what he is talking about, but he can't get the point across. His tests are somewhat easy, but there are questions that are hard too. He doesn't take attendance. You don't need to go to class to get a good grade. Just study the online quizzes and read the book.

DO NOT GET HIM! He knows his Geology, but he has a really hard time getting the point across to students. He is a nice guy but not a really good teacher.

Professor Abbott certainly isn't the most interesting of teachers but he is very helpful and a really sweet man! I recommend him! An easy class and he's very into the subject.

Incredibly boring lectures. However, most of the test questions come from online quizzes that you can just memorize before the test and the final in super easy. Attendance isn't mandatory. I showed up to maybe 5 or 6 lectures and still pulled a B+.

Abbott is pretty boring, I'm not gonna lie. His exams come 70% from online quizzes from the book's website, and 30% from random stuff he talks about in lecture. Lecture basically consists of him talking and showing slides on the overhead.

horrible. he is extremely smart and well educated in geology but can NOT teach it. i would recommend findhing another teacher!

very very very boring class. attendance not mandatory. goes straight by book. all he does is lectures the whole class time and shows some pictures on the overhead. final counts over fifty percent of your grade but most of the questions come from the previous exams. should be an easy A/B.

Great Professor. A little shy but really nice guy. He is willing to help and will answer any question you may have. Very quiet, so sit in the front. High textbook usage (most test questions come from text). Attendance is NOT mandatory but I recommend going.

Wow..This class was boring & pointless..i went to class on the first day and test days..no attendance policy & u dont learn anything if you go..test come from online quizzes and basically word for word + some questions that he picks randomly..very nice guy but incredibly boring..should be an easy A/B

This guy is very easy. Labs might be pointless but they are quick and fun if you like looking at rocks. You dont have to come to class because he gives you worksheets to do for each section but you just have to do them.
