Prof. Ruddick is inspiring and brilliant. Anyone at the University of Chicago should strive to take a class with her during their time here. She will truly inspire you to think and write to the best of your abilities.

Y'all are ragging on a nice and pleasant woman with a genuinely different perspective whose thought, you can tell, is constantly involved in trying to bring the intuitive and spiritual parts of her life into the particularly ass-backwards intellectual zone that is professional English. Take a step back into your best self. Try not to be that guy.

Completely uninteresting. Loved by students who require encouragement. Weak in scholarship and intellectual ability.

A not too smart sentimental prof. Glorified Harvard grad who really doesn't know too much. She infantalizes students and is strongly anti-intllectual, while posing as an expert on modernism & psychoanalysis. A waste of time for anyone who can think for themselves. Likes to spoonfeed students & pat them on the back when they regurgitate.

I must object to the person who said she had a poor background in psychoanalytic criticism; she knows more about it than anyone else in the department. My one complaint is that she can be a little inflexible about views contrary to her own, but other than that, she's great.

A thoughtful, interesting class. I only wish it had included traditional ideas on pedagogy as well as liberal, leftist, & multicultural ones. The Eng. dept. needs to rethink how it structures required grad. classes. Theory, Marxism, and leftism in general shouldn't be the only lingua franca.

I thoroughly enjoyed class with Professor Ruddick. One of the top two or three professors I have had at Chicago. She gives very engrossing lectures but is also the most helpful professor 1 on 1 I have ever had. I would love to take another course from her.

Only had her in class for about 3 wks (medical problems), but I will go out of my way to take another class from her. EXTREMELY talented and well-spoken--speaks about psychology intelligently, which is a very rare thing to find. Brilliant about Woolf.
