Charnesky intimidates initially and the first few projects can be a lot of work. But after that, he's a really great guy and good teacher. He even helped me with my grad school statement of purpose outside of class. I would take him again.

Great great professor! He really changed my writing and concept of HOW to write. He even suggested for me to become an English major, a suggestion I took up. He is zainy, but his classes are just amazing. His class is what you dream your college classes will be like. A MUST TAKE! :)

Slightly goofy, moderately deranged, tremendously paranoid. Rants and raves off topic and then throws a hissy fit when the class loses focus. Makes a dull class mildly entertaining but probably isn't worth the trouble.

Phenomenal teacher! If you listen to what he is teaching you, and what he's teaching you will make you a better writer, then you'll love the class, do well, and leave a way better writer than you came into the class.

Very enthusiastic, always helpful if you ask. Very clear expectations, extremely easy exams if you actually read what you're supposed to...he pretty much tells you exactly what's going to be on the exams. Easy to get an A if you read & attend class since he takes attendance daily.

ENGL001 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Low Grade Received: N/A

Basically this is college prep lit class. Charnesky is a wealth of interesting information which makes lecture almost fun. There are four small essays total and the exams aren't that hard. You can Sparknote most of the books except one or two, one of which is painful. He gave us all full quiz/participation grades. Good class for a GH.

I was really nervous coming into a literature class because I'm not a big reader, but Charnesky made reading exciting!! Most of the books (he chose) that you read for his class are really interesting and easy to read. The topics you discuss are very different from high school that make it easy!! Go to class, take good notes! Sit in the front!!

This is a pretty easy class as long as you make sure to read the books. If you keep up with the readings you should get a good grade. Charnesky is a great guy and really explains the books well. It is an easy class...

Pretty funny and intelligent, although definitely divisive. He's kind of a hypocrite, though: he makes you memorize everyone's name in the class, and TESTS you on it, but he himself has walked past me several times after class without acknowledging he even knew me. He also never responded to my e-mails.

He was an exciting professor and made a lot of the material funny, but he got on my nerves sometimes by being a little full of himself or by being mean to a few students. He was nice to me personally though and, in my opinion, graded easily. I'd recommend him.
