This was probably the worst class I have taken yet. She just tells stories about herself and hardly lectures on the material. The content of the course is interesting and you have to put in the time to learn the material. She is nice enough but has an arrogance about her that I found quite annoying. I personally wouldn't recommend the class.

She talks about her life a lot and does not use lecture slides. You basically have to write down what she says or pay attention and go to class every day. There are questions from the book, so I would recommend at least skimming a chapter each week. The papers are all opinion, so they were fairly easy to write and get good grades on them.

Professor Keating is very good. However, She spends most of lecture time discussing items not focused on homework material and lecture can get hard to stay focused. Reading the book and attendance is highly recommended for success on the tests. Otherwise, the class is very easy and an enjoyable gen. ed. class.

If you don't go to class it will be hard to take the tests and do good in this class. The textbook is a must read. She is an extremely pessimistic professor. But the course itself is easy. It is just hard to stay awake in lectures.

Yes she kicked someone out of class for reading their text book, is pretty rude about calling out students she doesn't like, even forces her opinions down ppl's throats. But she truly cares and is a GREAT teacher. Buy the book, study, go to class and give your FULL attention (no real note taking)and you WILL get a B or higher.

I am extremely grateful to Dr Keating, especially for the encouragement she gave me. She was so helpful I asked her to become my advisor and appreciated her advice; I still remember one very nice thing she said about me being capable and should reach far, her comment has always stayed with me-thank you Dr Keating!!

She was not helpful what so ever!! all she cared about was shoving her own opinionated beliefs down your throat. and if your beliefs didnt match her you were the wrong one! she didnt give any helpful info on life only crushed students dreams for their life!!

Professor Keating is the #1 professor to take a class from if you are interested in a degree in Sociology. She is extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and a great person in general. The students that dislike her obviously need to prioritize their life. Do not take her if you regularly miss class or simply "do not care".. no one will miss you.

Really difficult to understand. She was nice, most of the time. I had a few problems with her. She almost kicked me out of class for drawing while she was talking, but kids who had been reading or sleeping were ok. Made no sense to me.

Very nice person and will help you out but tests are very hard. She will repeat herself and talk about things that are unrelated to the class which leads you to wonder about the tests.

I thought she was a great teacher. She is very helpful, and she has all her old tests on reserve at the library, study those along with your reading and you will do fine.

I like Sociology, so I did find the class to be fairly interesting. I don't think that her tests are extremely hard, but they aren't easy. Come to class, study handouts, and review the book. Something that bothered me was that she is very left wing liberal, which is fine, but she wants EVERYONE else to be as well. She should respect other opinions.

Very opinionated and stuck in her own ways. Think twice before you want to speak your mind. If she does not agree with what you say, then in her mind, you are wrong.

Hard teacher, and yes very opinionated. She preaches about her family too much, and should focus on students and their opinions. Only her opinion counts, so if you are someone who likes to speak their mind...don't take her!

Didn't like her very much. She playes favorites, and she has a way of talking to you that makes you feel stupid. She loves talking about herself and her kids a lot, which gets to be annoying. Her tests are HARD. I rarely get anything but A's on tests, but I have yet to get an A on one of her tests.

Keating is extremely opinionated and dry. she lectures all class hour and tells stories of her family and life on a basis of what is good and bad. Her tests are very literal... you need to know dates, and specific qoutes from different sociologists. You can study for hours and still get a D! I DON'T recommend her!!
