BRUTAL and not worth it. I had to retake CMV because of him because I refused to back down when he told me my essays were crap. He has favorites because my best friend and I worked on our papers together and she got a good grade while I failed. He likes when you stroke his ego, but it's not even worth your time...He belongs to a cult.

This guy is insane. DO NOT TAKE HIM. His work is trivial and his points are stupid. He is a stubborn man. Besides his class being horrible, he is a very nice man.

His class is based on his theory and his book which you must relate to about 4 other books and your own life. If you don't like analysis and writing long essays then don't take him. Otherwise, just pay attention in class and make sure you understand his theory and you'll be fine. He's always willing to explain stuff in office hours too.

This guy is nuts. He makes you buy his book and they you have to write two 10-15 page papers about his book and about 7 other books that he makes you read and relate to his BS book. All he looks for is for you to kiss his butt and write about how good his book is. Honestly, who cares? This guy is form a cult I swear. NOT WORTH IT. DONT TAKE HIM!

Just as long as you read and pay attention-good grade. Easy to bs through papers and just as long as u back up your answers you get credit. Recommended class.

first week was confusing, as the week goes on he explains to us step by step to understand his theory. he is very helpful when you ask for help. very organized and prepared for class. you can use your laptops. a lot of books to read so we can prove the theory. i learned a lot! this is worth taking. =)

confusing 1st weeks but will explain everything in class so dont worry about book. He's the nicest guy once he gets to know ur name and he does only teach his theory but he encourages you to question it and test it in ur life and the world. I did so and found out it all really does make sense, no grades besides midterm and final which can be bs'd

I firmly believe that this man is at least partially out of his mind. He teaches some crazy theory in a class about contemporary moral values? You will spend the first 2-3 weeks lost, and then when you figure out what is going on you realize, wow this man is insane. Grades are based on how messed up you can pretend to make your life in papers.

OK, I got a great grade in this class. He's a friendly teacher and he really will try to help you out. Problem is, like some other have said, I only got a good grade because I happen to have a ****ed up life story to tell. If you don't, you're screwed. On a personal level, this class gave me good advice in convincing my pal to go into rehab.

No matter what class this guy teaches, he only teaches his own theory rather than teaching the actual subject. I took understanding society looking to be in and intro to sociology class. This muther****er took it upon himself to teach nothing but his stupid theory of transformation. If you want to learn Sociology dont take his class. If you want to waste 3 credits on a self help seminar...knock yourself out. Helpful and nice guy...horrible choice in what he teaches

This man is a menace. His grading scale is how much he likes you, multiplied by how messed up your upbringing is. His theory makes sense on a very superficial level, but is unbearably trite and needs to actually be thought out. A menace.

he sucks downright sucks...makes you buy his book and then write papers about it. who the hell wants to write A paper about his book? and to reply to the comment below...he doesnt challenge anybody....he just want to make some money off of unsuspecting students by selling his book because nobody in their right mind would buy the book for leisure

i loved him! i noticed that students that did not like him were not willing to be challenged academically and personally. what i learned in this class will seriously stay with me for years to come because he changed my perspective on viewing the world. very nice man, very intelligent, interesting theories

Amazing teacher. At first I didn't like him, but that was because I misunderstood him. This man is a great professor, he's clear, extremely helpful and always avaible to talk to. You don't see many profs who are this dedicated to their students and their profession. Abalos is a wonderful&caring man.

He is a very good teacher. He wants his students to participate in class. Some of the class gets very repetitive and kind of boring but if you can get though that then its an easy A.

he is a really sweet man but he is very closed minded about his own beliefs. if you are stubborn as well, dont take him because it will only frusterate you and you won't get an A. I worked hard on my final paper and he gave me a B and told me he wanted to challenge me to want an A.. yeh that sucked.
