"There for you" "Would take again"

First half of the semester lectures, second half Java. Not an easy class and attendance isn't mandatory, but it'll definitely help you to attend. Assigns Java projects which you can complete with class time, and he walks helping students all class. If you do the HW and projects, you'll already know all testquiz material. Put effort easy A.

"Gives good feedback" "There for you" "Amazing lectures"

I really think this professor deserve more. He is a good professor overall. His lectures are clear, he explains things well. Even though the class is a little bit tedious in term of the works you have to do, but if you put work, you will find the class extremely entertaining and the teacher will always be there to help you. Great professor!!!

"There for you"

Professor Franssell works one-on-one with students to help them understand concepts and is very patient. To pass you have to do your part as a student (i.e. doing all the assignments and studying for the exams). The Java Tutorial Packet he gives in CSC 110 became my bible for the class. It has everything you need to know to program in the class.

He isn't uptight which is nice. Assignments and tests are good. Offered retakes on many of the quizzes when the class did badly. Nice guy, very forgiving. Lectures aren't awful.

6 wk Summer term was tough. The projects were challenging and interesting. You will work hard for a good grade. Prof Franssell has high expectations and is not a hand-holder, but he will help you one on one when you need it. This class is not for slackers. Work hard, do all projects, and you will really learn a lot about Java programming.

Great Professor, really helpful in class. Don't skip, do all of the projects, and study for the midterm and final with the practice versions he gives ahead of time.

I remember when the light of his real-time vector overhead projector turned on, he said almost instantly, "ooo How does this work?" and figured it out. When we were talking about factorization of really really big numbers, he knew all the famous math guys. I think he's one of those mirror and emulate type of guys.

Sometimes his lecture might confuse you, but if you ask him to explain it again, he's willing to do it. He also will help you when you stuck in the assignment.

This was, by far, one of the most challenging classes I've taken. However, the assignments and topics covered are what will prepare you to be a better programmer. This class provides multiple opportunities for hands-on experience with coding, and will prepare you for your future if you are ready to put in the work. If you get stuck, ask for help!

Prof. Franssell does an excellent job of helping students develop the critical thinking and analytical skills required to tackle the subject of data structures. I especially enjoyed his in-class visual code walkthroughs & desk-checking. This class works best in tandem with regular textbook readings. I've learned a lot this semester - thank you!

Great Professor! very clear during his lectures and is willing to answer any questions. The projects are both fun and challenging (you will learn a lot). He's extremely helpful after class and during his office hours if you have any problems. He truly wants you to learn and succeed. I definitely recommend his class!

He's a fantastic professor. Tough class, so you've got to do the work. Study hard, and UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPTS! If you do, the projects will be very doable. 9 projects and two tests(mid and final). He gives a practice test before every test, and the actual test is very similar to it. He's so helpful outside class. If you need help, ASK. Fun class!

He is a good professor but the only two things i hated about him is that he can sometimes be a bit mean to students and his class is way too challenging for an intro class. he will give you programs sometimes and then you won't know how to do the programs until later after they are due.

Excellent professor and a great class. The programs are challenging and you have to work hard to keep up, but Prof. Franssell is always willing to help you if you go to him during office hours. This class will prepare you for industry or to continue on for a 4 year degree in computer science. Prof. Franssell really cares about his students.

Professor Franssell is a great teacher!! He has made me fall in love with Computer Science and programming when I was previously terrified and frustrated by it. He REALLY cares about his students and even stays late to help out. Yes, there are lots of programming assignments but thats the best way to learn, and he helps you out along the way!

You will learn a lot in his class. He is very knowledgable in computer science. The different aspects of computing run together sometimes in his class which can make him hard to follow. His tests are not hard. The subject is difficult if you have no previous introduction to computer science, so it is important to be at every class.

If you want to learn how to program in Java, before taking his 201 class, you should take his 130 class. He'll teach you the things you need to know. He'll give you projects and will definitely make you think to solve the projects. If you don't understand something, just ask; he is always willing to help you during class and his office hours.
