Great Teacher really loves what he does, I had coding experience before so I just blew through the class but he really tried to help everyone.

You will learn a lot in his class. He is very knowledgable in computer science. The different aspects of computing run together sometimes in his class which can make him hard to follow. His tests are not hard. The subject is difficult if you have no previous introduction to computer science, so it is important to be at every class.

If you want to learn how to program in Java, before taking his 201 class, you should take his 130 class. He'll teach you the things you need to know. He'll give you projects and will definitely make you think to solve the projects. If you don't understand something, just ask; he is always willing to help you during class and his office hours.

The class was hard. The teacher wasn't helpful. He doesn't accept late homework and enforce strict attendance.

Great teacher. Some may find his lectures boring, but I personally enjoyed them. I had no problem coming to class everyday and actually looked forward to coming. He was very nice and met helped me a lot during his office hours and after class. He would stay after to help even though our class ended late at night.

He was super helpful if you showed interest, if you were there to mess around then obviously he didn't care for you to waste his time further.

He is awesome! Easy to connect to and very chill- you can leave whenever you want. I was originally in CSC130, but found it was too easy and he helped me bump up.

Don't take him in high-level classes. You may not understand what is he taking about even you know how to solve the problems. He blamed on student's English while his pronunciation is sucks too. And he asks to remember term definition for exam. However, he is easy grading. If you are expert, he just asks few question and gives you 100.

For all the people that haven't programmed before and are whining, TAKE THIS TEACHER AND ASK HIM QUESTIONS! He's very understanding and takes notice when you want to meet and exceed his expectations. I've programmed before and this class was a breeze, but he invited me to help out when the class got stuck. If you want an A, show up and participate

Most importantly Mr. Franssell loves what he does and teaches students to understand material, not merely attending for grades. Grading is very fair: quizzes, a midterm and final. There are numerous programming problems and projects, but complete & understand(!) these and you will walk out with comprehension and a good grade. Highly recommend him!

He is very familar with the material he teachs. If you have a question, he will help you. Lastly, you will do well in his class if complete your textbook readings on time.

Class is very long, hard, and boring. He tries to help but explains things in a complicated way. Unless you know how to program previously I would not recommend taking him.

Do not take him. You will regret it unless you have prior higher level programming knowledge. I can not stress it enough how you should not take him. He likes to pick on people who aren't doing well and isn't very helpful. Then again CSC teachers at NVCC Annandale campus aren't amazing either. I have yet to have a decent teacher.

This class is supposed to be a beginner course but he does not treat it that way. I have never programmed before and he makes it hard to learn. If you don't know an answer to a question, which are unclear, he gets an attitude and begins to treat you unkindly in class. I dread going to class.

Efficient teacher, great at managing his material. He makes the material very easy to learn by designing activities that demonstrate programming methods, but not too much work. Extremely helpful, sweet, calm, and funny. Class is always fun and interesting. You will definitely learn programming; the best professor to take for this course.

I'm not a computer person. Mr Frannsell made programming interesting & engrossing. His lectures were clear and to the point. We had plenty of time in class to practice programming, and he was helpful and patient. He was clear about class structure & expectations. Grading was more about helping you learn than making you toe a line.

I had him for 110 last year and 130 this year. Workload is reasonable for 3 credit classes. He is mostly laid back but he can become impatient and insulting to individual students. I was very uncomfortable when I overheard some things he was saying. If you can deal with that, he is quite good about telling you exactly what will be on the tests.

Professor Franssell is a very nice, kind and patient person. Class was 4 Ms Office homeworks (easy), 10 programming tasks (little hardish, but you'll be fine) and 5 tests (quite easy) and a final. Overall I didnt know anything about progr. prior to this class but finished it knowing how to write a simple program. I highly recommend Mr. Franssell.
