He was unclear and didn't teach a thing, and then gave everyone in the class A's despite their attendance or homework consistency.

A class more for engineering stories than to learn programming. You will learn very minimal programming if any at all in this class. The whole of all the programming you need to know to do the whole of the assignments for the year can be learned from one or two mediocre books in two hours. However, he does tell interesting engineering stories.

Don't learn a thing. Not good teacher... Expect pop quizzes that he already gave u the questions to. Should be fine if you already know C language though.

Very fun and enjoyable classes. Often starts class off-topic and somehow relates to the class' topic. You will learn only the bare basics in his class, and if you go for help he does the assignments for you. Take his class!

Yeah...this class is all about learning to figure it out on your own. But, for programming that seems to be a huge hurdle because it's very methodical and you have to realize right away that you have to follow the rules of the game. It's a good hazing class. I for one liked it.

im a upcoming freshman for fall 2006, and i took prof. lent's class CS102 over the summer. in short, not much (if any) of c programming but a LOT of engineering/computer stories and stories of cooper life every now and then. if you dont know the programming at all, like i was, find some help b/c you'll need it

Go for the fun/entertainment and general programming advice, don't expect to actually learn anything concrete. Fun stories, tho.

Prof.Lent is a great teacher for freshman. Although he didn't teach us C to the degree I expected,I think that his talk of engi/cooper and computers/unix in general are actually helpful since many students are actually comp/unix-illiterate.His course is an intro and when you get out you should be able to use/learn C easily. Most awesome advisior.

U won't actually learn anything about programming in his class. If you already know how to program (C, C++, JAVA), it'll be easy, otherwise, u're going to need help. He'll get side track for 30 minutes but will manage to link it to the answer to the question. Maybe 1/5 of the time will be about C. Depends if u're intrested in what he talks about.
