Super nice guy, tries his best to be helpful, but often very confusing and convoluted explanations of simple things. The first half of the class is theory, and the second half of the class is "studios," which I REALLY hated. Group work, presentations and debate on the Gateway pipelines. Brutal, makes me feel like I'm in Grade 10 again. AVOID.

Sourayan is a great prof! Overall the class was interesting and thought provoking. The paper is long but not hard like people have made it out to be. The midterm and exam were very fair as well. Overall, I would highly recommend him and this course!

I have taken Soc 370 & Soc 345 with Sourayan and hands down the best prof I have ever had! You usually spend the first half of the semester learning the concepts of the course and the second half applying them in an interactive fun context.

You can't help but like Sourayan personally, as he is a nice guy, but as a professor - yikes. His lectures were ALL OVER THE PLACE, got really behind. It was difficult to follow what he was saying, very slow, no structure. The majority of class stopped coming. Very long & unclear essay assignments. Term paper is a LOT of work - start early.

Dr. Mookerjea is a great prof. It was an interesting class, and he showed great films. The term paper isn't as bad as it sounds if you a) talk to him about it, and b) start it early. The final exam was a take home, but was rather tough to fit all he asked in under 10 pages. Over all a great class if you are interested in the subject.

Probably the best professor at the school. Super smart, clear, helpful and nice. The studios were the best and have been my favourite part about post-secondary thus far. Although some parts of the course were rather bland- he designs his classes in a way that the later half of the course is a lot more fun and where you apply your knowledge.

One of my favorite professors still after leaving with a SOC degree. He is helpful, lectures are comprehensive, tests are essay style questions (he gives you 5 in advance to study for, and then picks one for the test), and he is a fair marker. And super easy on the eyes!!

One of the nicest professors at the UofA. If you need any help he is willing to help you without any hesitation. You don't really need to read the text book, or even go to class because his notes are online. It was an easy class but its all writing so if you don't like that than it isn't for you. Great prof!

He's a really really nice guy but 369 wasn't focused at all. After the first few weeks I didn't even bother reading because lectures didn't have anything to do with it. I did minimal reading and got A-. GPA booster, if you're left minded.

Excellent, the best prof I have ever had. After getting some real world work experience with the government and 1 multinational, I was really able to relate to the info. Very high quality teaching. Outstanding, very helpful, concrete examples, very realistic. A genuine high quality professor.

One of the nicest and fairest marking professors I've had in University. As long as you do the research, you will receive a decent grade on the term paper. Always willing to help his students. Recommend him if you are interested in the subject, if not don't bother. :)

Dr. Mookerjea was a great prof! Marks papers pretty easy, provided you put in the effort to write a convincing argument! I received an A on the term paper; just pick a topic early on and research it well. Very helpful and willing to spend time with students...TA is good and fair in terms of marking. Very interesting documentaries! Reccomended!!! :)

The information is really intersting and the movies are very informative. But the term paper is very hard. This was a 200-level course but it felt like it was a much higher level. Maybe too hard for a 200-level

If you cannot write, do not take this class. If you are looking for an easy class to up your GPA, no not take this class. If you do not enjoy watching documentaries, do not take this class!!!!! the remainder of you will find this class educational, but it is not fun or exciting, oh and good luck on that term paper, its a killer

Great lecturer; very interesting so it can be hard to remember that you need to be taking notes too. Lots of reading, but if you go to lecture it is clear what is worth focusing on & what can be skimmed. Essay based class, with the main paper being both a bit time consuming & challenging -but hey -this IS university...decide on your topic early

An entirely essay-based class, i went to probably one lecture a month and did quite well. If you are good at research papers, the final project was not that difficult, though it was lengthy. The classes i went to were interesting and informative. I would recommend taking this class
