Took this class awhile ago. One of the easiest teacher that I had for a GE class. It was an easy A when I took his class.

Pleasant teacher with a wry sense of humor. He is extremely fair and attempts to make geography as pain-free as possible with his midterms, which all come from the self-tests in the textbook. I highly recommend this class if you are intimidated by science. Pereira makes it really easy to do well in his classes.

Great teacher and person. Very knowledgeable of the topics he taught. Manages to explain complex topics and ideas in simplified, easily understood terms

hey he's a good person but can be off topics sometimes. GO to class for good participation points. studying for the midterms and tests are not hard at all, put some time into it and passing will not be a problem. Although, didnt use the textbooks as much though. take notes instead or could use the book to follow along with his lectures. got an A in

Very nice and intellegent man but one of the most boring professors I ever had. The text was awful and his lectures not interesting at all. He actually reads out of the text at times.

really nice guy overall. Gets off topic a lot but still manages to talk about geography. Class can get really boring sometimes. Easy assigments and tests.

fun class... you have to go to him to talk to him, dont expect him to come to you... content is overwhelming but he gives out guides, follow them (cram till you remember every item), keep up on labs, and an A is easily within reach

Professor Pereira's class was not hard but it was hard trying to stay up. Take his night course. He's really nice and gives you a good deal of time for homework. Just show up and do the homework and you don't have to worry about getting a bad grade.

Laid back & knowledgeable. A prof interested in sparking minds - not marking papers. If you want to participate, conversate & discuss global issues, take this course. If you want a strict prof, or strictly academic knowledge take Partial Differential Equations or something!

if you want a good grade, take this class. If you want to be challenged, stay away...just read the book on your own.

First off, he's a very nice guy. Secondly, he's a wonderful teacher; very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about topics; available to provide assistance and further clarity on topics. If I was a Geog major, I would take all of his classes!

all of the people who rated Pereira highly are just happy he's an easy grader. he's a lousy teacher, though, which is more important. total slacker, disorganized, just not into teaching.

Approachable, gives a study key to tests which narrows down the study time. Needs to have more class content rather than open-ended discussions often not about Remote Sensing. Learned quite a bit, but wish there was more reinforcement of topic and labs during class periods.

Very approachable teacher, down to earth, and knowledgeable in his field. VERY interesting and involving discussions, and an easy grader, doesnt treat students like students, rather like colleages. Enjoyed his class very much.

Gary is the most chill, laid back prof you will ever have. it is a pleasure to be in his class - a nice change from the rest of GE! He tells you exactly what will be on the test, and is a more than fair grader. He is very approachable and interesting. Highly recommended.

Very approachable. Treats students like adults. Teaches classes like participatory seminars, not spoon-fed lectures. New to teaching, so still getting organized, but clearly very knowledgeable. Easy to talk too, and up to speed on cutting edge ideas in his field. Well worth taking.

obviously hates SJSU and thinks the students are not worth his time. he hasn't ever been prepared for class, and makes snide remarks about the program's quality. not a people-person and should be hiding in a cube somewhere.
