He is a fun and decently engaging lecturer, but the material was often scattered and didn't help on homeworks a great deal. The content was also pulled from a textbook that he didn't provide us with. He answers questions during class, but I've heard that he is dismissive and rude if you try to visit him during office hours.

Really bad lecturer, lots of information that isn't useful. I would recommend going to discussion though. TA is good. Class isn't as easy as everyone makes it seem, I think there was a big change in policy. Not too rough of a class though. I honestly though would avoid going to lecture.

Professor Lubarda is one of the most interesting professors and he always seems to be joyful while teaching. Makes the bigger picture easy to understand. Great Professor. But you will put some work in to get an A

He's really not that great of a professor, but the class is fairly easy to get an A in since the TA's give all the answers to the homework during lab hours.

Lubarda's cool and Matlab's not that hard. His English is accented b/c he's from Montenegro, but still understandable. He's entertaining in an unpredictable way - just random things he says/does. He goes through the book examples in lecture, so read the book and you don't have to go. Go on the day before the midterms and the final, though.

amazing teacher, if you do the problems from lecture to prepare for the exams you will do well.

Funny and amusing guy; okay for teaching this class for the first time. Read the book and class will be relatively easy. Note: the required book is the 1st edition, but some of the homework is based on the 2nd edition (which contains a separate and detailed chapter on vectorization). Use the 2nd edition copy or the ebook on UCSD's course reserves!

The class was very easy and straightforward. I was worried at first since I had no prior programming experience but absolutely none is necessary to succeed in this class. Most of the class is homework, and the final is very easy. You could afford to skip most lectures but if you do attend Lubarda always give hints for homework, he's very nice.

Literally 80% of class is take-home. Go to lab and guaranteed 100% on hw. I had 100% up till finals (even quizzes are easy: take-home so you could use lecture notes and everything), but watch out for finals. Takes a while to get used to his accent and he's not the best lecturer, but funny. Attendance is 2% of final grade but he checked only once.

He's a very nice guy - approachable, smiling, charismatic, not arrogant in the slightest. The class is a bit hard but manageable if you go to office hours.

GREAT PROFESSOR!! Definitely take him in the summer for statics and dynamics! He's very good at what he teaches and cares about the students. Exams are straight-forward, no tricks. Teaches you exactly what you need to know. Highly recommend!!

Get the book. Easy in the beginning, then it gets hard. Make friends who've already taken him. In class he reads off lecture slides and doesn't help. I went to class b/c he sometimes gives extra-credit since no comes to class. Final was really easy! This isn't his specialty though! MechE classes are, so don't judge him based on this course.

I'd like to mention I have no prior knowledge of programming in any shape or form. However, his lectures are very thorough. Basically, go to class, and you will learn C/C++ in no time. 90% of your grade is take home, and he goes over EVERYTHING you need to complete the assignments. Going to class will guarantee perfects on a majority of assignments

Don't take this class unless you have prior programming experience. If you DO have prior programming experience, don't attend class. Homework does take a long time, since C is so hard to program in.

For those who say Lubarda was a good teacher, please stop telling everyone such a bad lie. Lubarda was a hella bad teacher. His homework and quizzes were nothing like that weeks lecture notes and once in a blue moon he would give hints on how to do the homework. If you can, take a different professor for MAE 9. Avoid this guy.

He knows his material! Attend lecture and be sure you sit in the front row! Whatever you do, do not blink...you will miss half the lecture. I repeat DO NOT BLINK!!!

He's really bad. He doesn't care about any of the students, and he is openly mean to students who attend his lectures. Don't take this class, you will regret it.

MAE 130A/B. If you get the chance to take Lubarda, do it! You will learn a lot but be warned he doesn't put up with BS and he won't hesitate to call you out in the middle of class. He's highly knowledgable and his tests are fair. You won't be tested on anything he hasn't covered. Only gripe was that he lectures fast and disorderly at times.

His accent is very heavy, and usually asks himself what is going on. He has trouble answering questions from the class, usually a student will answer another student's question. He's useless.
