I like Joe''s style. He is fun yet will work you. If you want to learn he''s the guy. He is very helpful laid back and a cool down to earth person. Looking to slack then don''t take the class matter of fact if you''re looking to slack then stay out of college.

SPAN 1000 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: Mandatory Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: A

Joe seems a little bit intimidating at first, but he's actually a really cool guy. He's very fair, to the point where he won't let you turn something in if everyone else doesn't get that same opportunity, and he will make you work for your grade no matter how much he likes you. Challenging class, but well worth it.

I worship the ground Joe Fruth walks upon. I've never had a professor go so far to make classwork engaging and interesting. He is clear, concise, and fun; his office door is always open and he dedicates 3+ hours a week of his personal time to helping students off the clock.

It's possible to pass Joe's class, u are expect to do a lot of homework the writing assignments are huge in you achieving a passing score. Joe is fair, but he will work you to death. If you are a first-time Spanish student, I would not suggest taking this class and possibly look for a better instructor.

Joe may seem intimidating at first, but you will soon discover that ultimately he is doing so for your own benefit. If you want to actually learn spanish you would be hard-pressed to find a more thorough and committed instructor than Joe Fruth.

He is one tough teacher! He is very strict on book use and attendance. He makes the class hard, but if your dedicated and really want to learn Spanish, he will teach you, military style. But you will learn for sure & that's the important part.

Joe is fabulous! If you are serious about learning Spanish, this is the professor for you! As stated by many others, he is very explicit in what he expects from you. Not only will he teach you about the language, but the culture as well. Prepare to be amazed!

Been a while since Spanish 1000, haha. Joe's a good teacher, his class is sufficiently challenging but he's also very helpful and wants his students to learn the language. If you're serious about learning Spanish itself, the class and the grades will come pretty easily.

Great professor. Very clear about what the requirements are for passing his class from the beginning. Very passionate about Spanish and willing to help if you have questions, but you have to let him know. Would absolutely take another class by taught by him.

So good I went back for seconds. I agree with other statements that he can seem 'aloof', but I think he's very personable. The arrogance perceived, I think, is from not understanding his sense of humor.

He's a pretty cool guy, and a great teacher! I had him for Spanish 1 and 2, and let me tell you, I learn a lot! At first the class can seem intimidating, as well as Joe's personality. Don't let any of his hard exterior fool you, he's in it to teach you, and if you're serious about learning the language it'll be a piece of pastel!!

Joe was very intense the first day with a 21 pg syllabus.. but don't let that fool you. He is very clear about what he expects and if you listen, take notes, do the homework and practice speaking you will be fine. John seems aloof but he cares and it shows in his teaching. So glad I had him!

Like a lot of other people have said, he's very clear about what he expects from you, which makes it easy. His expectations are relatively easy to achieve, of course you just have to do the work. The only thing about him is he can get a little arrogant, but it wasn't so bad that it interfered with my getting a good grade.

He makes it crystal clear what you need to do to get a good grate. Probably the most detailed syllabus you ever reed. The only thing suboptimal is that you don't actually talk spanish that much. I'd liked more group tasks to practice talking spanish.

I found Spanish to be difficult, but having a well organized professor certainly made it easier. He is very clear, in fact, the man hands you an 18 page syllabus at the beginning of class. Actually, it was a little annoying at first, but there is never a question as to what he expects from you.

More MCTC profs should follow his example. Clear, organized, disciplined, funny, high expectations. Span 1 is going to be hard no matter who you have, Joe does it in a way to help you break through the language barrier wall. Standoffish attitude is due to trying to separate his friendly persona from his professor persona. One of the best at MCTC!
