Great professor! The material is easy by itself but he makes it extremely clear!

By far the BEST professor I ever had at QC. Dr. Ryba is an awesome professor, outstanding human being with a little sense of humor. He is gonna make you to love C++. His style of teaching will force you to go class although attendance is not mandatory. I registered for his math 618 and will register every class he teaches at QC :)

Good professor with a sense of humor. There is a textbook however you can most likely do without. Attendance is not mandatory but recommended. I recommend doing practice problems before the exam and really reading the questions, he's a very clever when it comes to them - nothing serious but no point in losing a few points.

his is a dumb course. I got an A, but I didn't enjoy the course at all. Very confusing at times, and always rushed through the material. You'll literally have to spend your weekends or free time working on the problems and making sense out of them. Proofs can be long, because it always included proving a lemma first, before the actual proof.

Great Prof. Makes you excited about C++ and super fair grader. Attendance not mandatory but recommended if you're a newbie to C++, since he explains concepts better than the textbook. Just doing that, attend your labs, and practice writing code guarantees you an A...

Attendance is not mandatory but you better go if you don't want to be lost. GREAT teacher, GREAT attitude, LOVES comp sci and will make you love it too. I'm excited for 211. Gives one A+ grade per lab and I got the one for mine. Practice tons, but your lab will probably be harder.

Makes a very dry topic somewhat interesting but you will have to do a lot of work on your own. You will need internet to practice. Class was very rushed so teach yourself. Do the prac qs bc the exams will cover the same topics. Curves and counts lab so you can do well.

i love Ryba.. he's so funny!! Anyways I took him for cs111 and math 518 both classes I received an A, for 518 you really should memorize all the theorems because he can make his exams a bit hard. I totally agree with the comment below. His second exam was hard. You don't really need the book.

He is the best. The first test was fair, the second test was ridiculously hard, but he drops the lowest grade, and the final was actually enjoyable to do. Just know how to prove the important theorems and you'll get an A. I had him for CS111 too, same thing, made C++ easy to understand and his tests/grading were very fair. Easy A & you learn a lot.

His lectures are easy to follow and are enjoyable, and he is very charismatic. Though he assigns a textbook, you will learn plenty from lab and lectures. Exams are also very fair, though his second midterm was oddly excruciatingly difficult. Very fair grading structure and a very good professor overall.

Brilliant mathematician, but keeps CS stuff simple enough for computer noobs. Hard to talk to him due to huge class size. Worse midterm counts less, a good thing as the topics get harder. Great class to start out the CS major.

Excellent Professor really knows his stuff and is able to dumb it down so everyone can understand. only thing that may be hard for some is the lack of a one on one connection bc its a huge lecture class. I wish he taught 211 i hear waxman is not even close to as good. Definitely recommend and if you have trouble go to the lab and ask the instruc

this professor got so many good ratings, I DONT KNOW WHY, He rushes through the material, after class ends, he runs away so we cannot ask him questions. Its hard to ask him a question, programming is hard and he just confused me more with it, Please avoid. thanks.

This class is stupid easy. I never programmed before, and got perfect scores on all his tests. Fun class, you'll learn some cool things, and it really opened my eyes to computer science. He's very clear, the textbook is an embarrassment, and try to get into a good lab class if you're struggling (Gheizals/however you spell her name is great).

I'm really lucky that he didn't give me bad grade, I believe I did pretty bad on his exam due to lack of time, he's really nice person and nice lecturer, highly recommended.
