Such a good professor. I loved her teaching style. I took both chem1127 and 1128 with her and she is the best. She is hysterical in class as well as extremely helpful during her office hours. By far my favoriate professor at Uconn. Definitely take gen chem with her.

Gen Chem is a weed out course, tests will be extremely thorough. Know your material and be able to do it fast. That said Dr. S is a fantastic teacher. She is very thorough in explaining material is very approachable and provides good extra study materials. I strongly recommend her to anyone taking gen chem.

Took in Spring 2011. horrible teacher. Doesn't know how to connect to students in lecture. BUT a great help during office hours. Knowing how 2 work the practice tests is not enough at all. Listen, gen chem is a weed out course. Hundreds of kids will get C's and D's & nothing will change. You gotta work hard for a high B or A. Plain and simple.

She is a really sweet and funny lady. The concepts are easy to understand in class but they are nothing like the exams. You really have to put a lot of effort into this class. I really liked her as a lecturer but her examples weren't that helpful when it came time for the exams.

Does not teach well. Uses overhead projector and writes notes (which you often can't read). It's easy to understand her accent, but she's so dry and boring. Nice lady who is willing to stay after to help you study, but very unclear in the lectures.

Completely useless, you'll quickly learn how pointless the lectures are. She doesn't teach anything well or in a comprehensible manner, while still going at a snails pace. Fortunately the class is pretty easy as long as you do all the work assigned.

Her lectures are worth going to and clarify the problems sets, etc. Despite her accent she is easy to understand. Makes herself available to students and will respond to emails quickly.

I got an A in this class, because I went to class, did the problem sets, did ADDITIONAL problems on my own from the back of the book, and went to tutoring sessions for chem. She is VERY understanding, she curves, she adjusts the weight of your lowest exam. I got a 60% on an exam and still got an A in the class

Yeah she's bad. Do the problem sets, owls, practice exams, and go to lab. Don't go to lecture except for the second exam material. I tought myself everything. She doesn't really do reviews in lecture either. One time she called me out for leaving lecture because I needed to study. Embarrassing. Bad.

Don't expect an A-- this class is meant to be very difficult. A weed-out class for sure. Read the text, do homework and OWLs, and pay attention in lab. The lecture is absolutely useless. She goes way too fast and I can hardly understand her. She doesn't put up any notes on HuskyCT. Its hard to keep up.

I never went to lecture & taught myself everything using the textbook. I also took AP Chemistry before taking this, so it was a lot easier for me than it was for most people. Everyone I know spent a lot of time in the Q center with the tutors.

Never answered my emails, and enforced an unreasonable regrading system for the exams. Class is inconsistent through the years. Last year the class had bonus problems on every exam and the grades were curved, this year our exams were longer and harder with no bonus or curve.

I never had a good Chem teacher in high school, so Fatma was a step in the right direction. Although it was very hard, it was very rewarding at the end of the semester to complete the course. I only recommend this class to people who are strong in math and comprehensive reading. Do not take this class if you are not strong in either.

Really nice lady, she will help you if you ask for help. However, the exams are really hard and not comparable to examples done in class or review sessions. I have a strong math and chem background, but do not do as well as I hope on most of the exams. Best 1127/8 teacher though.

She is very difficult to understand in lecture and it is very hard to keep up with her pace in class. The class is a mandatory gen ed, so I would try taking it with either another professor or on the off semester when there's not as many kids.

Best professor to teach the specific course in the university. She's also the one who makes the exams for the whole department. The class itself requires a lot of time and studying. Prof teaches well!

She makes the tests for 1127 and 1128. They are mcuh more complicated than the homework, and other examples she gives you. I did like how she puts practice exams online for us, they are very similar to how the test looks and how hard it is. I had a tutor and mostly taught myself. Its definetly a weed out class.

VERY HARD CLASS! teacher is the best one youll find though. helps kids and spends hours out of class helping them. HOWEVER.. EXAMS ARE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. not taught problems at the level of difficulty on exams in class which is unfortunate and does not prepare you well for exams. which are most your grade.
