Great guy and proffessor, knows his stuff and teaches it well. Easily approached in office hours and always a smile on his face. Holy cow though his classes are hard, you will work for your grade and be proud of it. Material in 204 is dense and not to be taken lightly.

Jackson has a remarkable gift for teaching that I've very rarely seen the equal of. The text for Physics 204 is very, very poor, but Jackson makes it so that you'll never need to pick it up. Exams are very heavily based on homework and class examples, so you know exactly where to study and what to focus on.

PHYS 241 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: Not Mandatory Textbook Use: You need it sometimes Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: A

Great professor. He explains things well, he has a passion for the material, and he is always available for questions at the end of class or in his office hours. I think I saw some people even working on the homework in his office and asking questions on areas they got stuck on. Overall great professor. Textbook is required for the homework.

Had Jackson for PHYS 141 and 241. Awesome professor with super entertaining demonstrations in 241. You have to work HARD, to get an A in 241, but Jackson is probably the best person to take it with.

PHYS 332 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: Not Mandatory Textbook Use: It's a must have Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: B-

The best lecturer that I have ever had before. He explains things with excellent clarity and precision. His exams are somewhat based off of the homework, which are also extremely difficult. The worst part of the class is that the entirety of your grade is only from the exams, which means that there is no grade buffer.

Physics 241 is hard no matter who teaches it. That being said, Jackson is a very good teacher. His tests are fair, similar to the given examples, and fairly graded. His lectures are clear and filled with an extremely dry sense of humor that made even physics a little more bearable.

Dr. Jackson does a lot of demonstrations which makes the lecture really useful. He also has a really great lecture style and I would definitely recommend him as a professor.

If you have to take physics, take Dr. Jackson. He is very clear in the lectures, his exams are doable if you did the homeworks and went to lecture. Do not procrastinate. Physics itself tends to be a hard subject, but you cannot go wrong taking Jackson.

He is very nice, and explains things fairly well. However, the class is hard if you don't understand EMF or EMN. The only thing that gets graded are the four exams, and there is no rounding. TA's aren't good at grading, so if you think something is right, ask for a regrade or go into his office hours. Do the "homework"!

In class examples are good but could be better. Everything is out of the book. Outside class he's unapproachable. I met with a TA and saw Jackson sitting in his office with the door open so I asked a quick question (would have taken 2sec to give me an answer) he just rolled his eyes and told me to come back during office hours. Tests are HARD.

attendance is not mandatory, But you won't miss any class. He describe things very will and use in class simple experiments to show how theories work. Totally recommended and I will take phi 241 with him.

Probably the best science teacher Ive had at UofA. He is extremely smart and teaches in a way that is so easy to follow. His tests are not easy at all. He barely provides enough time so if you mess up at all you probably wont finish. However, if you thoroughly understand all the in-class problems you will be fine on the test.

I went to his office hours a lot, it really helped. He doesn't have any graded hw, which sucks b/c your entire grade depends on your exams, but he replaces the final score with your lowest and the final is pretty easy compared to the other exams.

If you're going to take physics at UA, take it with him. He explains concepts with more detail than just what you need to know to do the homework--ie: he cares that you understand beyond mere regurgitation. Very low tolerance for BS, but other than that, cool guy. Final can replace your lowest grade. Prep for exams by doing hw AND class examples.

Dr. Jackson is a good professor and his lectures are interesting and informative. He can come off as rude if you seem like you don't know what you are talking about, but he is a nice guy and is very passionate about Physics. If you go to class and study hard you can definitely get an A!

Very clear professor; makes lecture easy to understand with demos and cool informational tidbits. On exams, understanding the problems he does in class is as important, if not more, than the homework problems. Redoing the lecture problems and the homework will earn you an A (still challenging though).

Love this prof! He makes physics bearable. I absolutely hate physics don't get me wrong, but he makes it so that I can understand physics without having to kill myself studying (like i did in PHYS 102). I guess teachers really do make or break a class.

Hate physics--love this guy. His demonstrations before diving into lecture helps clarify the material beforehand. Tests are pretty reasonable. I got the impression that he cares a lot about whether or not you actually understand the material, instead of just regurgitating it. Endearing professor. Almost makes me want to minor in physics.

Dr. Jackson is the most fantastic lecturer I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. His exams may be somewhat hard, but he explains things so well. I looked forward to going to his classes every time. He is the man to take for Physics at the U of A
