I don't know what these people are talking about Dr. Dudley is awesome! I got a 94 in his class, 98 on the first test and a 94 on the final. The trick is to take notes in lecture, then after read the book with his lecture notes next to you and make new notes with his notes + book notes. Takes less than 45 minutes to do and is so worth it!

Dr. Dudley is one of the best professors I've ever had. His lectures are so clear and come straight from the book so definitely follow along in class (I usually took my notes on the book pages). He's ridiculously intelligent and witty and I looked forward to every lecture. The world would be a better place with more professors like him.

First of all, I have no idea why he is considered 'hot.' In comparison to many of the other Organic teachers Dudley is the lesser of evils, but be prepared to teach yourself from the book. His tests are manageable but his notes are too disorganized to be beneficial.

Very difficult, felt that he rushed through the book just to have an extra week at the end to study for the final, which wasn't effective for me. Hard because I didn't understand book very well, and it felt like lecture was book summary. Will say he gives very big curve at end of semester, for me anyway. 3 Tests, 70, 54, 49 and still passed w C-

He seems like a fun-loving guy who just wants to see his students pass, but don't let that fool you...he couldn't care less about you. He talks about some obscene 15 point curve all semester that he'll give and then adjust to be MORE generous, but he doesn't follow through with it. Not a great teacher, either. Hard tests. Just use the book.

he expected a great deal from his students, going to class was often a waste of time (the book is what saved you). He did not curve his class fairly at the end, and does not seem to care that his students did poorly on many tests; inconsiderate.

All good things to say about Dudley. Curves the class fairly. Organic is a hard class no matter who you have but Dudley makes it easier to get a better grade with extra credit and easy recitation quizzes. Would without a doubt take him again.

Wrote the comment below. Forgot to mention - apparently good looks and the chemistry world aren't mutually exclusive after all.

Dudley's very clear with concepts, very willing to help, and cares if stuents grasp the material or not. You will have to put lots of work and time in if you want an A, but if you put the effort in it's very doable. Curves class as well. I'd take him again.

I usually do not write reviews but I wanted to share my assessment of Dr. Dudley. Dudley is fairly new with teaching large lecture organic classes and has done a very good job so far. He keeps his class fresh and interesting and is easy to follow. However, like every organic teacher, he expects a great deal from his students. You must read the book

Organic Chemistry: really great professor. helpful and friendly. class is hard but interesting. actually the material itself is very interesting alone, but he def increases its appeal with his enthusiasm. has helpful "remedial potions" every week where you can ask him questions. very good class.

Great teacher with a passion for his students. If you like to visit office hour with this professor right before an exam, don't always count on him being available (sometimes takes long trips to costa rica right before exams). When available, he gives lots of help and wants you to succeed

I struggled for my first C with him, but I have nothing to say about him except that he's a fair, kind professor who really, genuinely cares about his students and their understanding of organic chemistry. It's a tough course no matter who you take, but Dudley's a nice, charismatic guy who at least makes it enjoyable. Highly recommend him!

I'm currently taking honors organic with Dudley. My first thoughts after my first class with him were, "what a great professor." He will answer any questions, offers help extremely liberally, and offers lectures of high quality. Yes, his class is very difficult, but it's doable and YOU WILL learn the material if you desire an A.

Dudley is nice, in a dorky kind of way, but he's not really helpful. I attended lecture class every day for the first two exams and I got not so good grades on them, then I miss all lecture class for exam 3 and got an 88... go figure. So.. if you have the book, he will be your best friend... there's too much material to learn in such a short time

Dont waist your time taking notes in class. Go to class and listen to the lectures, but take your own notes from the book. The tests are much like the reviews, but the final was extremely hard! The review didnt help much but apparently the questions came from the book questions assigned.

If you looked at the test reviews, the test were easy. The final was probably the hardest test that he gave all year.

He's no help really. He's really nice but doesn't know how to teach. He usually messed up examples in class and confused people. Pretty much study a lot more b/c his lectures are no help. If you study concepts on Pre-Test then you should do OK.
