Patty is one of the most gifted professors at USI. She knows her material inside and out and is always willing to go above and beyond to help her students. People can say she is out there, but that is what makes learning in her class fun. If you want to have one of the best experiences of your college career, take any of her classes.

She knows a lot about her subject matter, but it's simply boring as can be. She is very unclear about what she wants from you. You must read the assignments to pass the tests. Don't be like me and not read. The material is so far out there, you have to either read or have some knowledge of the material.

Really far out there. Overall she is passionate in what she teaches and I got a A in her class. Tests are hard b/c slides and notes do not help so it is mandatory to read the material!

She is very intelligent when it comes to her subject but she does not teach it very well. She is all over the place and her powerpoints are unclear. You have no clue what to study for the test (all online tests). The material is very interesting but I would not recommend taking this class for an easy grade.

This class is harder then what it needs to be. Her tests are unfair. She doesnt prepare her students at ALL for exams! My major is nursing, and if i could recall this class goes nowhere near my profession, so it would be helpful if she helped out her students more! There's also no extra credit, no assignments just 4 tests.

Hilarious. She is obviously a very intelligent woman and really knows about this subject as well as many other types of Art. She seems like the type that would enjoy an intellectual conversation w/ one of her students over a drink... of coffee. Do what's assigned and you'll do just fine.

Why are people down on her? She is REALLY SMART!! REALLY REALLY KNOWS HER STUFF!! The class is a BLAST!!!! WE watched a lot of movies...as long as you can be open minded ...its awesome!! I LOVED THIS CLASS!! I want to change my major after taking this class and this professor!

this class was an easy A. you don't have to read the material or anything. the prof. is awesome, she really knows her stuff and she makes the class interesting. TAKE THIS CLASS

This class was pretty boring. She seemed really into it though, but she didn't tell us what was going to be on the tests and she showed too many pictures instead of notes. Still a nice lady.

Are you people kidding? This class was useless. We looked at her travel slides the whole time and learned nothing. I got an A, yes, but it was a complete waste of time. If you want to waste your time and get an easy A, sure, take the class. If you want to actually learn anything, don't waste your money.

Personally I found that this professor took her class a little too seriously and expected every individual entering this general class to have an intimate knowledge of magic, alchemy, etc. I personally did not care for the fact that she pawned most of her teaching off to group presentations and refused to explain her grading style

I was very interested in this class to begin with.. Feels like a vacation lecture.. Could be taken so many places but it's not. Wish we had more exams.. If you are good at memorizing facts, take this class. If you want to *THINK*, go for another class. Decent teacher overall though. Class was completely unchallenging, just memorization.

Shame on you, person who doesn't read the tests! Anyway, I really enjoy this class. It is one of my favorites that I have ever taken. I'm very interested in the subject, though. Her class is not difficult if you do you reading. I love her and the class and would reccommend in to anyone. The fact that it is a core class is an added bonus.

I love this class. It is very easy as long as you keep up with the readings, and they are not hard. She tells you when she will be giving quizes, and you watch a lot of movie clips. I have never had a teacher like her before and I would like to have her for another class sometime. She's very nice and you can talk to her if you have any questions.

In her class we take notes over the slides she gives us, but she never test us over the slides. it is all over the readings. Her class is very easy, I didnt read any of the tests, and as long as you look like you wrote something down she will count it.

Magic is an interesting class but it's not an easy class. However, Aakhus tries to make the quizzes and exams condensed as mush as possible. She'll also give as much help as she possibly can.

Absolutely the best. Highly recommended for any writing class. Also, take Alchemy and Magic if you get a chance, you will love it.

Patty Aakhus is one of the finest teachers at USI. I have never met a teacher who is more passionate about her assignments and her students. USI needs more teachers like her.

She is a great teacher. The class is easy. You write 4 papers and read a lot over the course of the semester. You do an in class writing at every class based on that days reading. You pick your favorite in class writing to reform into your paper.
