"Clear grading criteria" "Get ready to read" "Skip class? You won't pass."

Sharpless basically gives you all you need to know with powerpoint notes, however lectures can seem long and boring. There are lots of opportunities to get points which is very helpful in a class like this! Lab lasts as long as you make it. If you go to office hours he will help with whatever you need. He's great with athletes!

"Lectures are long" "Tests are tough" "Clear grading criteria"

Dr. Sharpless is not a bad professor, just very hard due to his immense knowledge. He seems to know so much about Chemistry that if you do not like chem, then you will struggle in this class because you just don't care what he is talking about... However, if you are not doing well, Dr. Sharpless is willing to help you understand the material.

He is an awesome guy, but he moves very quickly! His tests are very hard and he throws lots of curve balls. He has office hours and tries to help, but he is so smart that it is hard to be able to relate to him. Lab is structured well, but lab exam is a killer. Final exam is death.

He's a good professor, but he is really tough. His labs are insanely hard, he likes to use simulations for the reports, which makes the lab reports harder for you to comprehend.

I had Prof. Sharpless for environmental chem lab. He is pretty intense and takes his stuff seriously. That said, environmental lab isn't a lot of work, but it isn;t an easy A. You need to make sure you know what he's looking for in the lab reports.

A lot of people will tell you that Prof. Sharpless is really hard, but it's really the subject matter that is difficult. If you're looking for an easy class, this is not for you. However, if you're willing to put in the time and read the book, then you'll be fine. I personally liked having him as a professor and thought he was a nice guy.

Sharpless is an incredibly smart guy. He knows pretty much everything and goes a little fast in lectures. He expects you to work to understand chemistry and gives you all the tools for success if you are dedicated. Fairly easy to get a decent grade because there are so many assignments.

Sharpless is hard to say the least. I am not a chemistry person at all so it is a difficult class for me. I had him last semester and this semester but my grades are just average. Tests are difficult.

Wonderful man, helps students whenever he can. Does have a monotone voice, but really gets into his subject matter. Has parties at his house for chem folks.. You really should invest in him, it'll pay off. :)

Sharpless has gotten a bad rap in these reviews, but i thought he was actually a good professor. He made the material available and his tests were to the point with no surprises. It's the MATERIAL that's sometimes tricky, not the way he teaches it. With little chem background i got an A in his class. Anyone can if they just READ the book

This teacher is extremely, extremely boring. He made me hate chemistry with a passion. I would avoid his class at all costs. I rarely went to class. He is extremely picky with his grading. Not really approachable. Overall, a bad experience.

Lecture is sometimes confusing, but like he say, you should read the text beofre lecture and it does make more sense. But the key to doing well is seeking him out and discussing problems with him. He is helpful and available outside of class.

I want to fall asleep EVERY MWF at 9 am. He has a radio voice so that doesn't help with ANYTHING! He's a picky picky PICKY grader and the online quizzes hardly ever have anything you've learned in class in them. He's a picky on the test. I started off wanting to be a chem major, and now I NEVER want to take a chem class again.

Chemistry in general is a hard subject. he doesn't help in making it easier. he expects you to have background knowledge in the subject, he is VERY VERY picky when it comes to doing labs and projects, and when i asked him for help, i was even more confused. He talks really fast and mumbles, too. only thing i liked was that he offers extra credit.

After having silly chem teachers & the like in highschool i thought science wasn't for me. Then, Dr. Sharpless made me love science again; i basically switched my major to science and took more Chem classes than i had originally planned! And if you are bad at science and math you shouldn't be taking Chem in the first place, try Geography instead!

he is a good professor, he cares about his students and will help you if you need help. His tests are ok and much easier than other professors' tests.
