Chem 2AH Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Low Grade Received: N/A

This class was terrible. I do not enjoy physical chemistry and that is all he focused on because that is his area of expertise. The whole quarter I was confused about what was being taught and ended up teaching myself the material from the book and going to TA office hours every week. The curve is pretty good though.

CHE 2AH Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: It's my life Grade Received: N/A

Although some students thought Professor McCurdy was difficult, I think if you had a good background in chemistry (i.e., AP Chem or another course), then the course was easier than most. He curves to the CHE 2A level, so everyone's grades get bumped up a lot. My advice to fellow students is to talk to him in office hours and attend every lecture.

CHE2AH Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A

Wow. What can I say about this class? The lectures were confusing, as he liked to go off on many tangents. He also liked to teach upper division chemistry to freshman. And while the tests were curved, they were extremely difficult. After this class, I wished I would have taken regular chemistry instead.

CHE 2AH Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: It's a must have Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A

This was one odd course; his lectures were often about the logic and derivatives behind modern atomic physics. He definitely knows what he's doing, but he presents upper division level material to freshman, who mostly have not seen this before. The exams are fair and he curves at the end. I thought all hope was lost for me, but I passed. STUDY LOTS

At times it may seem hopeless. It may seem as though you have failed the class, as if you understand nothing, as if you will not survive even the first quarter of honors gen chem. But always remember young padawan, the curve is your friend, the curve is you tool, the curve is your life. Use it well.

I got to know the guy and he's pretty nice, but this was one rollercoaster of a chem class. Overall he explains things continuously, rather than step by step so its easy to get confused. Heck even the TA's didn't understand what he was saying half the time. But if you read the book and go annoy him with tons of tedious questions, you'll be fine.

He's a nice and pretty funny guy. He's also incredibly smart... Because of this, he'll sometimes go on tangents about advanced chemistry that confuse everyone. His tests are fair if you study and read the book. Take lots of notes during his lectures because what he says is usually important, but hard to understand as he says it (he goes very fast).

His lectures are extremely confusing and you basically have to teach yourself everything. He's really funny, but can be condescending at times. Tests were reasonable as long as you study. Overall, I did enjoy the class, but I wish his lectures were a bit clearer.

Professor McCurdy is one of the best professors I have had at ucd. He is always so enthusiastic about QM that it gets contagious. The tests are fair, the homeworks are difficult and time consuming. Get a group of people to do homework together.
