PHIL 449 Taken for Credit:Yes Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Meh Grade Received: N/A
"Skip class? You won't pass." "Participation matters" "Get ready to read"

Selinger is a smart guy and really nice but I wasn't interested in this special topics course and just took it to fulfill my concentration. Quizzes are only 5 questions but they are based on class discussions so show up. He doesn't seem to care about students who don't participate but you don't get penalized if you don't. Oh and he's pretty hot :)

His lectures are unbeatable. He knows his stuff and presents it in the clearest way possible. I've literally never had a bad lecture all semester long with this guy. I would recommend him for any philosophy class - you won't regret it.

PHIL-449 Taken for Credit:Yes Attendance: Not Mandatory Textbook Use: What textbook? Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A
"Amazing lectures" "Would take again" "Clear grading criteria"

Professor Selinger is the most thoughtful professor I've taken classes with. He is clear about his expectations and what you need to do in the class. Show up, pay attention and you will do well. Special Topics class is NOT hard. Students who don't pay attention or do the work (there isn't much anyways) believe it to be hard. Intriguing.

PHIL 449 Taken for Credit:Yes Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: What textbook? Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A
"Tests? Not many" "Participation matters" "Skip class? You won't pass."

Evan Selinger is among the best professor I have ever had. He is not a hard grader, but get ready to work and read a ton. His lectures are really interesting, and he involves students as much as he can, but he also lacks understanding for people who don't like participating, and this class, PHIL 449 Special Topics, is NOT easy at all. Good luck

In my intro to philosophy class he started off saying that he remembers being broke in college, and hating his mandatory elective classes, so he wanted to make his better. Tests only, no papers. Weekly online quizes, 5 TF questions, 3 tests 10 TF out of 12, and 10 Short answer out of 12. Show up and listen and you won't need to do the readings.

Awesome guy. Very good at keeping everyone interested during his lectures. Attend all of the lectures, and yoi will know exactly what is on his exams (he literally says "this is a great test question"). His quizzes were tough, just true/false, but very tricky. Had I done better on those, I would have gotten an A, but did poorly on them.

While I was dragging myself out of bed for other classes, I looked forward to Selinger's lectures because they were so interesting and he taught with such enthusiasm. I was hoping to take his Philosophy of Technology class but it was full. Very good professor.

Selinger is one of the best prof at RIT. Period. He is helpful, smart, and genuinely wants his students to do well. You really have to try to get a bad grade, if you do, well then maybe you shouldn't be in college. TAKE HIM!!

Amazing prof. One of the best at RIT. Explains things well without adding his own opinion. Wants you to do well. Easy A. Weekly quizzes are only on what he talked about in the previous class. Reading is not needed.

Great professor, easily my favorite so far. Extremely clear in lecture, and he clearly loves what he does. Also, the quizzes and tests are extremely easy, as is the 1 paper required. Take this class!

Professor Selinger is amazing. He took some dense articles on the philosophy of design and made them crystal clear. If I have a chance to take another one of his classes, I would do it in an instant.
