Span 202
She is very challenging. You have to teach yourself the book material. Too many assignments at once.
SPAN202
She was a great professor! I learned a lot from her class because she is patient and will work with you. The class is a lot of work because you are trying to learn another language but I feel like I can speak Spanish a lot better now than I could prior to taking her class! I highly recommend her!
SPAN202
Avoid her at all costs!!! Assigns a ridiculous amount of online exercises, and 2 group projects that are a ton of fun to try and do outside of class.
SPAN202
She is tough. She expects a lot from her students because this is a higher level class. She expects everyone to be able to understand the language, because the number of classes previous to this constitute at least a semblance of comprehension. She is also nice and genuinely cares about her students.
SPAN202
A Nightmare...my 3 previous Spanish classes followed the text book, which was helpful since this is my first time studying Spanish, upon entering the class you are pretty much expected to know Spanish including the 4 chapters the class is supposed to cover, otherwise you'll have no idea what is going on in class.....
SPAN586
She's awesome. If you do poorly in her classes, it's because you didn't do the work. I've had her for four courses so far, and she's given me an A in all of them. She's the most knowledgable professor I've ever had, and she is always willing to clarify or explain things if you don't understand. Love her!
MSA604
No compassion, dont take the class if you are not native speaker. Even you work really really hard, the grade is still low.
SPAN202
She is cool outside of the classroom in her office but inside, WATCH OUT! She talks very fast makes you feel stupid, even if you were great at Spanish before. She likes to pick on kids and it makes you turn bright red. I dread being called on in this class because 90% of the time I have NO idea what the hell is going on.
SPAN101
One of the worst professors I've had. she doesn't teach very well. you shouldn't take this class unless you've had spanish before. 5 exams, including the final. pointless assignments over e-mail. one group presentation in spanish.
SPANIINTR
Intro to Spanish...I took 3 years of Spanish in high school...I had absolutely NO clue what was going on in her class. She went through everything so fast, didn't start off with the basics. The poor girl infront of me never even took Spanish before. God bless her. Definitely don't reccomend the class unless you're a Spanish major haha.
UNIV103
Easy, easy class with A LOT of work outside of class. She expects a lot of her students. One test and two papers, one 2-6 and one 14-17. No final. Didn't have to go to class, but didn't really mind going either.
univ103
This is absolutely the worse class I have ever experienced. She makes us attend an extra 3 hour class about twice a month to watch movies in spanish (none of us speak spanish) We also have 1 test and a 15-20 page final paper to write. She can easily fail you for no reason. Save yourself... do NOT take her class.

she is the best professor i have ever had. she is dedicated & passionate & will gladly help u if u ask. make sure u put in an effort & do ur work. her class is a serious challenge, so if you are lazy & looking for an easy A, run for your life. if you actually want to LEARN and don't have a problem WORKING for your grade, TAKE HER CLASS!

she is truly one of the best educators i have ever had. she is dedicated & passionate & will gladly help u if u ask. make sure u put in an effort. her class is a serious challenge, so if you are lazy & looking for an easy A, run for your life. if you actually want to LEARN and don't have a problem WORKING for your grade, TAKE HER CLASS!
span202
She was hands down, the WORST prof. i have ever had EVER. She didn't teach, she belittled students, and when i went to her office hours for extra help she told me to "raise my hand in class!" 3 PEOPLE from my class had to repeat it, including myself, and I had gotten an A in the Spanish class before her. She should be fired. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.
Univ103
Class itself, not too bad. The professor is another story; unorganized, high-expectations, and scattered curriculum
SPAN311
Very hard, but you learn a lot. Lets you know what will be on the test beforhand, so if you really study you;re OK. Really makes us think about literature and what it means. If you study, she's very helpful and works hard; if you don't work hard, forget i.
SPAN331
I definitely cannot recommend her as a teacher. She frankly did not teach us. Her expectations were not clear at all. She just gave us a vast list of terms (people, events, places) that we were supposed to know for the test. Many were not even in the text. Those of us who did well in the class feel like we lost 5 years of our life. Avoid the class.
span512
horrible experience...does not have a good classroom manner....very arbitrary in her approach to teaching..makes quick judgements without evaluation...treats adults like children ...should not be teaching...numbers in her summer program decreasing due to her overall deMEANor
Span351
Awesome lady. I honestly don't know why everyone hates her. Her classes are fun. She's a very positive person. She knows what she's talking about. The Spanish class was a lot of work, but it's college so there's no reason to complain. She tought us how Spanish is supposed to be used. Lots of students think they know their language, but they don't.
UNIV179
Definitely a tough teacher. If you are looking for an easy seminar class, "How Can We Change the World" with Dr. B-G is not the class for you. Be prepared to being doing her homework in much of your time outside the classroom.
Span312
As I said before, pretty hard prof... she demands a lot from you; I swear she thinks we have nothing else to do than assignments for her class. But, because you HAVE to work so hard, you learn SO much.. so it's worth it! Definitly come to class, and take notes, and study A LOT for the tests! She's great in her office hours though; always helps you.
SPANCIV
Its not that the class material is hard, but the Professor is useless, she has hardly any office hours. Also a very hard grader, she says one thing in lecture and on the test its wrong (essay and short answers). I was on my 8th year of leaning spanish and about Spain and got a D in the class when I got an A in the same class at another univerisity!
freshsemi
Dr. B-G was not helpful. She had unrealistic expectations, ecspecially for just a freshman seminar class! It was rediculous! She expected us to read two 400 some pages, in a month, at the same time! I recommend avoiding her if at all possible!
span361
Haha she has an unhappy face... she's okay though. She gives ALOT of work and sometimes it seems sooo undoable and so ridiculous and it seem so unfair that she expects so much work from you, but at the end of the semester you look back and are like wow, I really did a lot of work, it was worth it. This class (oral spanish) really wasn't that bad.

Like someone said below, sometimes this class felt like HELL but in the end looking back I really did work hard and learned alot. It's not that she's so difficult, IMO personally, it's just that she gives SO much work. Her workload is huuuge and I think she sits at home at night and laughs at us all lol. But really, not that bad.
SPAN 101
I learned everything in her entire class within two weeks of Spanish 102 with Dr. Chambers. She has ridicilously high expectations from students at this level, like studying at least 3 hours a nite. Lot of homework and you never know what will be on her tests and they are hard.
several
she loves her videos, but she's not as bad as some post say. she's hard, but not impossible. if your spanish is low, i'd recommend another prof, but for majors or fluent speakers she's very knowledgable about what she teaches. the class seemed like hell at the time but at the end i really did learn a lot and my spanish is better too
Span Civ
Worst teacher I have ever had. Does not teach, it is a self taught class with an extremely hard book. She's very smart, but lazy. Hands papers back months later, puts in a movie EVERY class, instead of teaching. She rather have us teach ourselves everything, and ask questions when we're lost, which is all the time. Dont take her if you can help it

I was excited about this class before I took it. Dr. Borger-Greco does not teach. She just shows films. It is so boring. When she does teach, it is unorganized and hard to follow. She assigns an endless amount of busy work to make up for it. Also, she does not follow the syllabus (at all) and is inconsiderate to the students

Thank goodness I took 3 years of spanish in high school or else I'd have an F. Teaches only some of the info you need to know. Gives you projects and expects you do come up with this knowledge out of no where. Selects certain students to pick on if they don't do homework or get lippy.

she's nice and speaks clearly, but you have to pretty much teach yourself the information. she just puts in a movie sometimes and then expects you to learn all about the 19 century spain. definitely read the book

She is a very HARD professor, but deeply concerned about your learning and will give you all the help you need in office hours, as an adviser, well she is not the best, BUT who is at MU?
advisor
Evil, evil advisor. I'll have to take her eventually for a Spanish Civ course, and that will be my downfall... *cries* I think she's a HORRIBLE advisor, I dunno about teaching, but she takes 3 weeks to email you back, and the sessions are useless...

At first, I was very intimidated but this class turned out to be my favorite. She is thorough and truly interested and concerned with your comprehension. She's hard core, but an awesome teacher.
