Way better than people give credit for. Not too great at explaining assignments, but all you need to do is ask. Class is super simple: a lecture about the cases followed by reactions/opinions from the class. Attendance not really mandatory. Seems distant from students but just make an effort. Maybe not a lively class, but manageable overall.

Awful professor. Very boring and gives little to no feedback. Easy to get a B but impossible to get an A. Don't buy the textbooks; you won't need them. Killed any interest I had in Political Science.

He's a nice guy. Lectures can be rather dull, but he does try to foster discussion. Grade is based on 4 opinion papers, a midterm, and a final. It's not hard to do well, but it's nearly impossible to get a A. Definitely take advantage of his office hours if you are unhappy with one of your grades.

This guy is horrible. He doesn't care about his students and will not read your papers. If you ask him a question about your paper he will just tell you that he needs to reread it. Every time i got a paper back he would simply just circle two words and give me a C+. Unless you are content with a C+/B- I would avoid this guy. An A is impossible.

Class was ridiculously easy. Romans was very boring and sometimes hard to follow, but if you know anything at all about politics you are going to get an A

Dont even buy the textbooks. Class is so boring. If you show up and do the couple essays then you'll get a B like everyone else in the class. If you're looking to get a free passing grade then this a good class to take. But if you're trying to get an A then take a teacher with an actual grading system.

I love American Government and Romans teaches all the great courses. I enjoyed debating with Romans. I wasn't a fan of his grading system but I really enjoyed the subject matter. I think every Political Science major needs to focus more on American Government and less on International. We need to learn about what makes this country great.

My problem with Romans isn't as much with his annoying personality, but with the fact that everyone receives the same grade on their essays. B's for everyone! Go to him for help and he tells you to consult the textbook. Probably the worst professor I've had at PC so far.

I took Romans for the Politics of the Legislative Process and also for Civil Liberties. He was always intellectually challenging and didn't suffer fools gladly. So if you're foolish and not interested in the subject matters he teaches and you don't like to read and write or you do it poorly then stay away.

Great prof, can't believe people call him unhelpful. Go to him with questions before a paper, he will sit and talk out the issues with you so that you, in turn, get a much better grade. He wants you to speak up in class so YOU get something out of it. He knows his stuff, and is interested in your opinons. Work hard and you'll get a good grade.

He knows his stuff but is just extremely unhelpful. Gives you a grade without a reason behind the grade and when yo ugo to ask for help he doesnt help you do any better. Avoid at all costs

This is a great professor who gets a bad rap. However, only take this man if you can actually defend your opinions. He loves playing devil's advocate and will ask you to defend the statements that you make.

Worst teacher I've ever had. Went to him at once or twice with drafts before every OPINION paper was due, was told they were good with few mistakes and never recieve anything close to an A. Very unspecific, not helpful, just not a good guy. And I'm a "suckup." Romans is awful

Take this class as a senior, not early on. Don't be afraid to take Romans on; if you do the readings, you can hand him his lunch during in-class arguments. The other students probably thought I was a "suck up" because I actually spoke up, but that's the best way to get the most out of this class. Harder than most PS classes but not too bad. A-

I guess i can agree with the general concensus that he likes kids who "suck up." However, class participation is a better statement. He's a really interesting guy, knows alot, just try not to be intimidated, hold your own, and you'll gain his respect.

DO not take this class. Im a pretty good student with GPA over 3.5 and did poorly in this class because he does not grade fair. Only the suckups do well in class even if they are morons. Attendance and participation in his class are torturous. Overall a bad mistake to take him. You might consider sticking pins in your eyes instead. Hes a fat slob

Absolutely awful...worst professor I've EVER had. Unwilling to discuss grades or how he came to them. Book was a waste, never used it then couldn't return it. Awful professor, just awful.
