He was one of the best professors I had in my MPH program, and I had him for 3 other classes beyond the PUBH6003 Intro epi class. Very knowledgeable, presented information in a clear and interesting manner, and was fair in assignments and tests.

Dr. Hoffman is refreshingly organized. Love this guy. He has a great method and prints out slides and handouts for you every week- considering the cost of printing on campus, it's very nice. Did I mention ORGANIZED and NO GROUP PROJECTS- thank god.

Dr. Hoffman was a great teacher. He draws on a lot of experience to bring real-life examples to class. He prepares you well for quizzes and tests by giving detailed study guides and practice tests. He also assigns four case studies that teach you how epidemiology is applied in real life. This class was challenging but fair. Glad I took it.

PUBH6271 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: What textbook? Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A

Really awesome presentations that make you want to learn more. Sometimes difficult to understand. Very bad about getting work back on time but that's probably because he teaches so many classes. He's a real expert in his field and you can tell he's passionate about his work, if not the logistics of teaching.

Great lecturer. Not sure why there are negative comments on here. Excellent teacher. Difficult subject matter, but I'm in school to learn.

I fell asleep nearly every class. It was so boring. Nearly every lecture was 2 hours too long, and his class made me never want to take another epidemiology class ever again. Exams were not fair, as they did not cover what was posted on the "study guide" and practice problems didn't help. Beware.

Attempts to cover so much in very few lectures!! Does not go into details of statistics Does not explain properly the equations, how to use them, No class time is given to any practice in doing analysis BUT - WILL ask all those things which are sidelined in the class discussion on the exams and case studies.

Every class he has powerpoint presentations that are way to long for the 3 hour class. Lately, he had been going over the allotted time which is annoying. He knows his stuff though. He is well versed in epidemiologic methods and concepts and he tries his best to make the class fair to everyone.
