Duncan's class was hard. After writing arduous amounts of papers and proofreading over the same document eight times I realized something. I hate Journalism! Thanks to Duncan's class I finally realized that this wasn't the major I had wanted to pursue. I'm now a science major.

Duncan is the man, avoid taking any classes w/ Tracy Miller if you can wait a term to take them w/ Duncan. He knows his****, he's clever and concise, and extremely helpful.

Duncan once wrote on my project in black sharpie "WHAT IS THIS!?" and "It looks like you're not going to finish it." He almost made me cry. But I kept going to his office hours and ended up getting a B-. He said he liked my final report. He will also give you an automatic F if your paper contains any spelling or grammar errors.

Duncan McDonald, or D-Mac as I like to call him is an excellent professor. His classes was one of the most difficult I at the UO J-School, but well worth it. Make sure to stop by office hours. He really respects you if you do. I prefer his upper level classes. I really didn't like grammar from him at all, but PR writing was great. Hard, but great.

Yes Duncan is tough, and yes you will either fail or get a C in his class. However the risk is worth the reward as if nothing else, Duncan turns you into an awesome self editor. You learn how to write and proofread at a high level. A lot of getting the C or the F depends on your GTF. I had anxiety for 10 weeks, but I think it was worth it.

Duncan's classes are hard. He's interested in helping people become truly good Journalists. He's the kind of professor that pushes students because he wants to see which students push back. Push back, and Duncan will teach you more than you ever thought you ever knew. Fold under his pressure and he probably doesn't want you in his J school anyways.

He's extremely hard. Grammar was so far the hardest class that I have taken at the University. But go to his office hours because he can be really helpful.

If you want to improve your writing you should take from Duncan. If you don't want to work hard then don't. He taught me more about journalism than all my other professors combined, and he is actually pretty entertaining contrary to popular opinion.

Still one of the best teachers I have ever had in my life. If you care about your writing, take a class from him. He is very demanding, but very helpful. Lots of people don't like him, but they are lazy idiots who want an A handed to them. If you want to earn your grade and really improve your writing then take a class from him.

He's a smart man who knows his stuff but he makes the class WAY too strict for an introductory course to how to write in the different kinds of media. plus, he's a total hypocrite. he gives students an automatic F for having a grammatical error in an assignment when he has grammatical errors himself in his lecture notes.

Great teacher. If you are a Journalism major, and you actually care about what you are studying then you will love Duncan. He is demanding, but if you aren't demanding a lot from yourself then why are you even in college in the first place? Anybody who doesn't rate Duncan high is probably lazy and doesn't really care about academics.

If you are not enrolled in the J school, do not take this course or anything else Duncan teaches. He's like a drill instructor for journalism. Overall, he'll make you a better writer, but he's very intimidating and sometimes condescending of students.

This class was so frustrating and the amount of pressure Mcdonald puts on you dosen't help. I don't know if he is actually evil, but he definetly isn't tight.

Prof McDonald has you turn in assignments and then tells you how they SHOULD have been done after they are already in, instead of teaching you so you will retain the information. He is rude and belittles students in front of the class and during office hours.

Flat out the best teacher I have ever had. He cares about your success, and if you care about your success then he is the professor for you. He is very helpful whenever you consult him. Duncan will make you a better writer. Yes, he is demanding, but he is eager to help you too. He will make you a better writer.
