Jim Chesher is a great teacher even through an online course. I had never taken an online course but he still found a way to make you feel connected. Really quick email response. Not an easy A, but definitely achievable if you read thoroughly.

REALLY hard class, but I somehow got a good grade in the class. I took it online and he was very good at getting back to me and helping me, but the material is hard to understand.

online. Easy class to pass if you do the work and meet deadlines. Plenty of extra credit available. Some textbook readings are difficult to understand, but professor provides explanation. Interesting material and plenty of new information that i've never heard of before, but a little too theoretical for me.

Online Class: lots of busy work, very big on the deadlines. Reading the course syllabus is a must. Confusing course, wants students opinion but expects to stay within the texts ideas. Somewhat hypocritical. Do the work and you should be fine. Offers extra credit. 3 exams + final, 10 quizzes/discussion and one paper.

Online Class: The material in this course is very interesting. It is presented well and as long as you read the chapters (not very long), you will do well. One 4-5 page term paper required, not too difficult. Weekly discussions and quizzes. Three exams. He provides study guides for the exams which help a lot. Highly Recommend this teacher.

Taking this class online. You do the reading, and turn in your assignments on time no reason to fail. Everything is out of the book: Tests, Quizzes and HW. Discussion questions are subjective, as long as you put a little thought into your answers you will get full credit! His email replies are always prompt and he answers questions you have.

Great guy, knows what he's talking about. Obviously has a passion for philosophy. Material is tough, don't miss lecture. Record lecture if possible. Stay tuned, the way he explains things is esoteric. He goes on tangents and so do students which draws away from the main points. I wouldn't take this class if you have no interest in philosophy.

Wonderful man. Genteel. Respectful. However, felt a disconnect. Little class interaction until the end. Sad about that. Liked the man - did not like the content.

Taking this class online, this teacher is great! Super responsive, all my emails were answered within 24 hours. A lot of homework, but reasonable. Class includes required online forum discussions. Hardest part was the term paper.

I love this man. I had him in summer 2008. He is enthusiastic about what he teaches and is good at engaging the class. He is smart and nice and talks beyond the textbook. Take him if you want to have a good learning experience.

tough grader in the beginning but loosens up at the end. homework is easy but last essay is a pain. he is extremely knowledgeable and wants his students to do well. he lets you choose whether or not you wanna take the final exam. i passed the course with an A without even having to take the final so that way awesome!

Clarifies pretty well. Quizzes aren't too hard if you have done the reading (he usually prepares before). Midterm is hard along with essay's. Hw is pretty easy. Essays are a big issue. Tough grader..The tutor (abe) sucks. Smells and looks like a hobo off the street. Rambles on and never really helps (especially on essays)easily get a C but have to

Chesher is the best teacher I have ever had! He is so clear, interesting & insightful. Easy homework, 3 tough essays, 1 midterm & the final. This class changed my views of the world and myself and TOTALLY improved my writing. Take it! It's tough, but you won't regret it! I will take with me the things I learned in this class for as long as I can!

What can you say about Chesher other than he's the best. By far the best teacher I've had at SBCC. He's funny and not afraid to talk about controversial issues. One of his best qualities is his ability to always stay objective in discussions. He lives for philosophy.

This was a great class. The material was hard, but Chesher helped a lot to clarify. You have to work hard in this class..,you cant just skate through. The instructor is friendly, funny, fair, and knows his stuff.
