Need to go to class everyday or will loss points. Play quiz almost every class. Going to class overall is not bad. Don't have to do much reading. Only a few big papers to turn in with some small things to turn in everyday. Only downfall is he is very opinionated and things have to be his way or no way. Wouldn't take him again.

Great professor. Extremely dry sense of humor, so prepare for that. If you aren't into participating, don't expect to like this class. Workload won't kill you. and watch out for bad moods -- he can be a little touchy some days

AWESOME PROFESSOR!! He's hilarious, smart, and keeps writing fun. Watch "The Big Labowski" before you take him because he will drop AT LEAST 5 quotes from that movie during every class, whether you realize it or not. I give "The Dude" an A+.

This class is really interesting. You have to show up otherwise he will fail you. There are little assignments that are due every class but they are super easy. You write 5 papers and he drops your lowest grade. Play fun games almost every class. Would take him. Also he has a dry sense of humor so just beware.

Niesen is a very funny professor! He is a tough grader, yes, but he truly wants you to do well in his class and will do a lot to help you! Attendance is important but I enjoyed going to his class. Definately consider him!

Great guy! Totally sarcastic though. You can tell he enjoys teaching. Like everyone else said- he is a tough garder and rarely gives A's but he does give you better grades if you are showing improvement. He can tell when you tried and when you didn't. Attendence is mandatory but I think he made it really fun to show up to class. Liked him alot.

I took this class online. He still finds ways to make the class very personal and interactive. He gives good direction but expects a lot. I got an A but i'm a good writer (I suck ass at everything else school-related), if you're not good at composition you might find his grading really difficult. He's really funny and I learned a lot overall

This professor is really funny and interesting. He is very clear in what he wants and posts everything online for your resources. He does not give A's very often though. I got a B- on almost everything!

This guy is hilarious! Enjoyed his class and had a very easy grading scale to one point i thought you'd have to try if you wanted to fail. There is readings you have to do though and some big papers obviously. But is there to help you out if needed.

He is a very tough grader. You need to work extremely hard and follow directions to the max to get that A. The books and movies don't really go together. He teaches almost nothing besides how to write a paper. Don't plan on skipping this class because he lowers your grade.

Probably my favorite professor so far. He's hilarious in a subtle way - I was always smiling in his class. Kind of a hard grader, but it made me proud when I DID get that good grade. Attendance is mandatory, lots of group work. Read one novel and one really boring book. (didn't actually read) Hope I get the opportunity to take another class of his.

Awesome teacher. Attend the class and do your work. I was one of his favorites so i guess it was easier for me. Watched a lot of interesting movies and read some pretty decent books. TAKE HIM and get on his good side =]

Very funny. His class is pretty good and I never minded going. He grades a little tough on daily work. He is very open to giving advice, and usually will give better grades if you go into office hours. Make sure to attend class or you will not do well.

I thought he was really funny. I think some people thought he was angry when he was really just sarcastically telling a joke. I had his class during interrim, so he really got to know everyone, I guess. Also did not really consider hima hard grader. Would definitely take again.

All around good professor. If you do the work and take his suggestions, you'll do fine. He seems to stress attendance more than anything in the class--show up and DO NOT be late or he'll call you out every time.

Rather crazy professor. Gets upset if you're not at least 3 minutes early to class. Very fair grader, class is pretty easy. Try hard not to take offense to his sarcasm.

Loved his class until he made it very clear that he hated my second short story. He praised my writing up until the story offended him, and then was rude to me the rest of semester. One of the few classes I looked forward to attending until he shat on my grade because one piece wasn't to his liking. Preferential and unfair grading. Take at own risk
ENG301
You will either love or hate him. Quirky personality, often funny. Can waste more than 20 minutes of class time explaining a mute point. Can be unnecessarily sarcastic at times, seems to be a very preferential grader - so learn to write to HIS style for a grade. Easy work for the most part.
