Literally awful. You will learn nothing about government and hate going to class.

If you get offended easily don't take his class. He has a harsh sense of humor that affects every race and religion. He doesn't discriminate, he tells it how it is in a very clear way for all of his students to understand. I personally really enjoyed his class and learned a lot. However, the amount of readings that will be on the exam is outrageous

He does not like questions. Pay attention the first day of class. He made an assignment that day that was 10% of grade but not calculated in the syllabus grade compilation or mentioned in syllabus. Then he asked for assignment a week before class ended. He is rude. You should make a lot of friends in his class. And exam questions come from review.

You use two books that you never really use. the only useful book is the texas politics not his book. He loses papers so either make a copy of what you're turning in or don't take him. The test are exactly like his review that he gives. If you don't pass his class you're just that lazy it's really easy to pass his class

He really makes you get involved with the political process. He is also hilarious and has the guts to say things he feels we should here. He is a little unorganized though, sometimes just his assistant showed up to class.

He was easy. He only talked about mexicans though and got off topic a lot of the time.

The class was interesting but he did not really talk about government. He gave study guides for the exams so as long as you studied for the exams you would do well.

He has such a strong Mexican agenda it's not even funny. He will shove the Chicano activist movement down your throat as if nothing else in Texas politics matters. Also, he requires you to buy 2 text books HE helped write/wrote. Also there are only a few chances to make grades so you better ace the 2 chances he gives you.

I don't recommend to take him at all. He's a nice guy but very unstructured, he'll give you huge amounts of reading between 2 textbooks and the test anything from both without any direction on what you should focus on. Also there's only two tests which make up your ENTIRE semester grade so you better do well on both.

Class was pretty easy however lots of work involved. You will learn but it is fairly small compared to the work load. Gears too far to the Mexican American side of every argument however the points are valid 95% of the time. Tests are straight off the reviews but the reviews are 5 times the size of the test. An "A" is attainable with some effort.

Don't take! I took this guy for political science and all he talks about is Mexican people and how they have been discriminated. You can **** through the papers tho and the tests are straight off review that is 150 questions for a like 30 question test. Won't even need the books that he wrote himself.

I took this class during the Maymester, and it was incredibly easy. Dr. Gutierrez is a nice enough guy who wants you to pass. Yes, there is a lot of work, but what should you expect from a 4000 level course. There was lots of reading, a 10 page paper and one presentation over a book. Overall, a nice prof. and rather simple class

If you want to learn absolutely nothing about actual government and everything about why "the man" has been keeping this prof. down, this is the class for you. He also does a great job of making his students buy a book he wrote that has zero to do with government.

"White students should not expect more than a C in this class. THey have had every opportunity afforded them, now they need to take some hits." He said this. He is ****. He is terrible. I cannot believe UTA would allow this guy in. Horrible person.

He made us work elections, write a paper over it, work campaigns, write a paper over GIS or whatever it is that maps out information over the years and so much more!! But for his tests he gives you a review with about 150 questions and 44 or so of those will be on the test. Thing is you have to find the answers and then study them all.. He was okay, a lot of work.

It's difficult to takes notes on his lectures, and he seems to have something against white people. He only gives two exams, but he does provide a list of review questions 2 weeks prior. His projects are RIDICULOUS! You have to write a research paper, plus work in the polls and work for a political campaign if it's election season. DO NOT TAKE!

pretty much what everyone has written, hates gringos, makes you write a paper when Mexicans will outnumber whites in texas, makes it MANDATORY to work the election polls where in other classes is extra credit, not this class,is slow in responding to emails, reviews are 250 questions and the test are only 50 but they are exactly word for word good luck

This man is dangerous. Not only are you forced to listen to La Raza propaganda for the entire semester (if he shows up to class at all), but you also must listen to hate-speech against non-Mexicans.He is a disgustingly **** man, rude and doesn't hide his hate of white people. He even had us write a paper on when Hispanics will breed out the whites
