Helpful, informative. Attendance is not mandatory but necessary or it's hard to catch up. He is available to help if you need it. A good person but this dual listing(undergrad & grad) class is poorly designed.

He is not suited to teach an ECON 2030 course whatsoever. I found his lectures completely inconsistant with what was on the exams. He is incredibly vague about his grading system and literally makes it up as he goes. I would highly recommend avoiding him.

Boring, not funny, uninteresting, not attractive at all. He shows these to his class on the first day. All the good entries make him look really good, but there is no way he can be fun, interesting, entertaining, intelligent, and humorous all the time. Lower your expectations and you will love his class.

I lost my textbook before my 1st exam, studied with textbook for first exam with someone else, then studied solely from the practice test he posted online for the last two exams. I ended up with an A in the class. Go to class because he gives easy pop quiz often. I would recommend him because he kept an otherwise boring class interesting! Have fun!

A very cool teacher for such a (at times) boring subject. No attendance policy, which was great. Gives great quizzes that you will make 100s on every time, which will ultimately save your grade from his tricky exams.

Haha, he is such a humorous towel. I took this class because I love cost benefit analysis and someone actually recommended Whitehead to me. He definitely doesn't prepare for class, but I guess as an economist I would not either. Gotta maximize return per unit of effort. It's hard to calculate for Dr. W because that ratio is undefined, but he is goo

This guy is such a tool! He's so full of himself and wants you to bow down. He goes off on strange tangents and doesn't have actual lecture plans and wings it. You rely heavily on the book but the book isn't enough for his tests. I guess he knows what he's talking about but needs an ego check.

He is a really nice and funny guy...the only thing is he kinda boring and likes to look on the internet at economics in the world which isnt a bad thing its just he wastes more time on that then he does on teaching. If you read the book you will be fine...no point in really going to class...

Professor Whitehead is AWESOME. Extremely laid back and helpful. Going to his class was always a good time because he has such a good sense of humor. I would definitely recommend him if you get the chance.

Showed bad things that people said on here about him on the first day...and made fun of them. Good teacher to have, especially if you have no interest in the subject. He was amusing, and got the point across at the same time, which made me not hate the class. I made a B and I just reviewed the notes before tests.

alright teacher. tries to make things funny. goes all over the place when he lectures. tests are very tough. definitely need to study for them. gives in class quizzes at random, but you can do them in groups.

he was so cool, his class was kinda hard, but now im going to become an econ major thanks to him. i wish i knew him when he had dreads, buts its ok. he is willing to work with you if you dont understand. if you want the ride of your life take whitehead

Well, I have to say the professor is nice and down to earth and will "try" to make a joke here and there. As far as getting the message across, I had a rough time following his colorful artwork within his graphs. I had pages and pages of S & D graphs, but didn't quite understand them. I have A's in all my other classes but this one. Good Luck!

Very cool prof. Likes to joke around, and keep the class interesting. Class can be a bore though, it is economics. You have a few announced "unannounced" quizes, and 3 tests. For the most part the quizes are done in groups, and the tests are straight from the notes. Highly recommend Whitehead.
Economics
John is a great teacher! Take him if you can! I was not interested in the class but I still got out with a C+ not the best grade but still was able to get out of the class. Lectures may be a little boring but he tends to make them fun at times as well!!

John is an excellent professor and very chill. He made that class interesting and fun. It was still a boring subject, but he made it super easy, plus what professor do you know that sings "Smells Like Teen Spirit" to an entire class. Rock on John.
econ 101
better pay attention to his graphing, and check the study guide out, he's a cool guy and wrote the book you use, BUT it isn't easy even if you know economic basics already. Study hard for the tests, and you'll be fine. he is super nice and welcomes office visits, plus he grades kindly.
