Cobb was really interesting to follow in lecture, and if you go to class (you have to) and pay attention, you'll be fine. You aren't to slack off all that much, but it's not the kind of course you want to kill yourself over either. I would recommend him to anybody. You really will learn a lot, and he lectures in a really clear and organized way
This class isn't too difficult. Just pay attention, take notes on the important points, and skim the chapters. The tests aren't hard if you studied. Didn't have to kill myself at all. Cobb is a good professor who keeps the lectures interesting. The only annoying thing about the class is the mandatory attendance.
WOW!! You will work your butt off for this class...there's only 3 tests, including final. Those are your only grades, but by the time you see how harshly they are graded, you're begging for more grades. He is no help (TAs do ALL the work), and we had ASSIGNED seats in a 300+ class! Attendance is MANDATORY. Be prepared to work!
I don't like history, but Cobb really clarifies the subject. He prides himself in being a hard teacher, so he's not terribly compassionate when you don't do well. He gets a lot more interesting after withdrawal period. Not an easy class, but you really do learn a lot. Had to study like a beast, but straight from the notes. Buy the student notes.
