ECON 155 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: Not Mandatory Textbook Use: It's a must have Rater Interest: Meh Grade Received: B

I hated this class so much. She is really hard to understand and isn't clear about what she wants. She gives study guides for the tests and though they are almost the EXACT SAME THING you will still be lucky to get a B. Wayyyy harder than necessary for an introductory course. I wouldn't recommend her for economics to anyone.

JPN201 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: It's my life Grade Received: N/A

While Weirong might be a good JPN 101 teacher she is not a good 201 teacher. If asked a question usually she will try to explain but fail completely to illuminate the issue. Her kana's are all hard to read and sometimes her Japanese is hard to understand and when asked to repeat she tends to say the phrase faster rather than slowing it down.

Like with any language, Japanese requires a lot of studying and practice. However Schaefer sensei tries to help if you ask for assistance. Sensei also doesn't rush the class too fast. I think she realizes that it is hard for one to learn a new language with a different character system/alphabet. I would recommend Schaefer sensei to anyone.

I'm signing up for her class next semester too. She's very nice & since she's lived in Japan for a number of years, she knows what she's talking about. So as long as you attend class, keep up with the homework & study; you should get a good grade. (And I happen to be in the last reviewer's class as one of the anime lovers with Japanese knowledge.)

JPN101 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Sorta interested Grade Received: N/A

DO NOT trust the comments below. She is not nearly as easy or nice as mentioned. It seems like she favors students who already know a little bit of Japanese or are very into Anime. However, I was not into this and she never was very helpful for me. She also takes forever to grade things and you never really know what your grade is.

LLT180 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: What textbook? Rater Interest: Sorta interested Grade Received: N/A

Most of the content for this course is copy-pasted from Wikipedia. She's VERY unclear about grading early on. Be prepared to do a LOT of work that you don't get any specific grade on (to the tune of a dozen 2-page, single-spaced papers). When you ask about it, she'll tell you she "considers it all at the end." Very, very frustrating.

The only teacher I've ever had who will help students correct their tests...while they're taking the tests. Nicest teacher ever. Accent is a bit tricky at first, but the sweetest teacher I've ever met. good for an easy A, but if you want a teacher who'll make SURE you remember everything, take Akaike-sensei instead.

I loved sensei, she's so cute! It does take a few days to get past her accent, but it never really gets in the way. Class is fun and she's a lot of fun! I wish she taught jpn 3 so i can take her again. she helps you out a lot and is willing to either come in early or stay late to help. I learned a lot from her and she will always be one of my favs!

JPN 101, 102 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: N/A Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A

Shes a really great teacher and really nice. If you dont get something, she will take the time after class to really go over it with you if you want. Sometimes she is slightly unclear, but she always gets there in the end. I would definatly take her again if she was teaching 201. ^_^

A very nice teacher. Tests are easy, class is fun. Combination Chinese/Japanese accent is kind of strange, but easy to get used to. Would take again.
