Hist39M
Tied for the best prof. I have had at Berkeley. He is intelligent and brutally sarcastic. Its also great to have an argument with him. the only downer was the rest of the class. As a discussion format, the class relies heavily on participation, but almost no one participated. You will get what you put into this class.

really funny professor. it was just that the readings for this class were rather dull. it was hard sitting there for this seminar 2 hours every week, but he explains everything and is a really great professor. so the professor is good but maybe take another class by him, but it is not a hard class if you do the readings and attend the lectures.

Some how he will thoroughly cover thousands of years of history, while giving life education. His dry wit makes attending his class particularly amusing and interesting. Flexible about paper dates. He actually reads and comments on student essays and is a critical but a fair grader. I'll just end it with "funniest man in man in the world."
HIST 177A
So freakin' entertaining. Very fair grader. Covers a lot of material in each lecture, which was a bit overwhelmimg as I no background in the subject. But he was always willing to answer questions, and was really nice in giving me an extention for the term paper.
Hist 177A
The funniest man I have ever met. Could lecture for half an hour about the most serious of topics (genocide, poverty, Armenian politics) before diverging and talking about how much he liked shish kabob, or how worthless most academics are. What a sarcastic ****. Take a class with him already.

He was an excellent prof. He forced you to try your hardest, and let you know if your hardest wasn't good enough. His teaching and overall academic style was rare in berkeley, but very much appreciated. His main problem was that he was too intimidating.
