Dr. Dan is awesome! One of my favorite CS professors at UGA. I took both 4300 and 4760 with him this semester and if I had the chance I would take more classes with him. The projects in networks started out super difficult but as the semester went on, it got much better. Also, if you prepare for his tests, you should do just fine.

Good Professor. The class is not easy, but he helps if you ask for help.He is fun, like people thinking outside the box. Highly recommended.

Dr. Dan is a pretty cool guy. I really liked his web programming class. Its really a bit of an intro class to web development. One of the most practical courses I've taken in CS.

Dr Dan is an extremely goofy professor that cares much more about the subject matter that is learned as opposed to the grades. He is very helpful and will go out of his way to help if you put some effort in.

If I had the choice to take this class again, I would NOT. The lecture notes do not match up well with what he teaches, and I attended every single class. The homework assignments are long and for the most part, pointless. I would recommend taking another MATH before taking this class; and the reason I took this was so I could avoid another math!

Dr. Dan seems to enjoy teaching. He lets out class early on most days. I learned mostly everything from the book and went to class for assignments. He assigned partners with every hw assignment.

This class was TERRIBLE. I have no idea why people are saying its easy.. weekly assignments that take 7+ hours to do. homework has NOTHING to do with lectures. he talks about anything but csci in class: ecology, epedimiology, you name it.. nice guy but TERRIBLE class!! take STAT instead for your quantinative reasoning!! be warned!

Excellent teacher. Anything you don't understand in class, he is willing to go over in office hours. Very quirky, fun teacher. If you're a comp sci major, his class should be no problem. Tests are easy, mostly reverse dictionary questions. I learned a lot!

Very funny guy. Posts everything online, but going to class really helps. Is very accessible and enthusiastic to help you individually. Does his best to help people who start to fall behind. Great class!

The lectures are all posted online as powerpoints, but he gives you some rewards for attending. Cool guy, easy (ish) class. Previous tests 1&2 are shown to help you study, as well as a lot of other materials on WebCT. It gets kind of confusing at the end when they touch on Java,CSS, and HTML.

I am not a CSCI major but I will say for those of you who are just taking this class because it seems interesting, beware. It starts out with excel and pwrpt. Then, you get into Javascript and coding websites. It was not an easy class, so just know that going into it. You can manage, but you HAVE to study.

I underestimated this class prior to taking it.It started out fun and the material is interesting, but took over my life. Must learn a bunch of languages on your own and then have a project due just about every Sunday. Dr Dan is a decently entertaining and enthusiastic professor, but this class is one of the most frustrating ones I've ever taken.

OK more CS majors need to to rate these CS professors. He is a great guy will help you a lot but his tests are meant to find out if you know the subject or not meaning they are hard. Had a 90 project average and still came out with a B because of the tests

I got an A on my first test and I still dont know what I have learned in that class. The only usefull thing you learn in that class is Excel but then close to the end they get really hard and tedious. A lot of the time they talk about how they feel about random subjects. The class is not to hard. The hardest thing is staying awake.

Took Dr. Dan's freshman seminar on Globalization. He makes it more of an open discussion than a lecture. Very interesting, very little work...definitely recommend for all. It's an issue that everyone should have a basic understanding of.

Hard class. Not many A's. Do any extra credit offered in labs. Study the terms in the back of the book.

Awful teacher! Hard tests and boring, boring class. Not helpful at all. He gave us electronic clickers to submit quiz questions in class, but the program hardly ever worked.

Class set up was horrible. Stupid clickers you hafta buy for your attendance and pop quizzes. That sucked. His lectures stink and are BORRRRRING! Ug, but stick with it (I did obviously) and you'll get the A. Lab quizzes, homework, pop quizzes, web page helps. Take advantage of those parts of your grade and you'll do fine. I did NOT like this class!

You got to give him credit. He's got the greatest heart and spirit, but he's definitely not the greatest teacher. If you can teach yourself lots of things, this class shouldnt be a problem. I struggled, but it wasnt a big deal. He's cool. text is used for homeworks only. attendance not mandatory, but clicker scores count as a big part of grade.
