Rob truly cares about teaching. He gave a large amount of homework, but it was all relevant to tests/quizzes. He answered quickly to emails and cares about his students!

Online. Lots of reading & work. Had to think/work hard but I'm not a science person. Clear expectations; no wasting time figuring out what to do. Do ALL the extra credit. It's time-consuming but not hard. You'll be glad for the extra points! Helpful, pleasant interactions with Rob Viens. Well-organized materials. Got an A. Interesting online labs.

This was a pretty cool class. However, there is A TON OF WORK because it was a 6 credit online course. This course was one of the most rewarding courses I've ever taken. Hard work pays off in this class. Plus, you'll learn a bunch of really cool stuff! If you like science and working hard, you'll love this class!

Mr. Viens is an excellent instructor and made this my best online class experience so far at BC. Be prepared to spend a lot of time on the labs and be sure to do the reading as there are weekly quizzes. I highly recommend this class if you need a lab science.

I also think Prof V. is "straight up G." I took geol:intro to natural hazards & disasters. I was sort of worried in the beginning that it would be too hard, but i ended up learning SO MUCH and found that i was liking it. He is laid back, smart, funny and accomidating.I even found my self googling things about it on my own time.

I took this class online. He has a lot of labs. At least one due a week. Lots of researching and analysis of actual rocks given in a kit. He's very helpful and gives comments back on each lab. As long as you follow instructions and give enough time for eahc lab and paper, you should be okay.

This guy is a straight up G. He is the true definition of an educator. You go on cool field trips, exams are easy but worth studying for. He will answer any question you ask him and he walks around during the labs just to make sure everyone understands the material. Plus, its a class for non-majors. What could be better?!!!

Rob is great! If you need a lab science, this is a good alternative to your typical Chemistry or Biology lab science. It's very hands on. I was thinking it would be relating to global warming, etc., but it's mostly learning about water quality, soils, etc. The only slight downside is the Greenhouse Experiment. It gets overwhelming towards the end.

I found this class to be hard. But, it is just the material. Rob is a cool guy, and grades fairly, and friends with his students. Take any one of his classes.
