The midterm and final are essay questions that he gives you in advance to study. Three short reflective essays. Lectures are dry, but he gives information that you will need for the exams, so I suggest to go to class. The book is good for better clarification on ideas. Tough grader on exams be exact on response. Gives good feedback on all essays.

I have participated the most in the class, gotten good grades on assignments, tests grades around the b- range, and what I get at the end? C+, really, this feels like a stab in the back. The text book was already a waste of money and its not a rental.

I remember him being a super passionate professor who really knew his stuff. I was a bit taken away by all the reading we had to do at first. But he made the topics so interesting that I wanted to read about global society topics. I have already recommended his classes to friends now attending SJSU.

I'm leaving this class with a lot of knowledge thanks to professor Brook. He is very approachable, if you leave the class with questions or doubts, that's your fault. There is A LOT of reading involve, so if you don't like to read a lot, this class isn't for you. There is a midterm and a final, essay questions that he went over in class lectures .

A gem of a professor. I'm in school to learn and I appreciate just being in college. He manages to give the most to you possible in the short class period. So few profs go outside the box like he does. Show to class, sit up front, and engage. Take detailed notes every time. I touched on readings. Helps change the way you think about the world.

Professor Brook was very knowledgeable about the subject and loved to talk. It was hard to follow along bc he always lectured. There's about 2 major papers and 3 short papers. The midterm and final were essay questions that he gave you to study ahead of time. Do not need to go to class to pass. Easy A if you do well on the midterm and final.

Dr. Brooks was a very knowledgeable professor. His lectures may be dry, but he knows a lot of information. Very fair grader and very easy to approach. He also gives you a study guide for the one midterm and final.

Dr. Brook is by far, the most knowledgeable professor I've met in terms of knowing his material inside and out. I would strongly recommend going to class. This feels less like a class and more like a 1 hour lecture twice a week about current sociological issues (very interesting). Also would strongly recommend participation during lectures.

Professor Brook is one of the most understanding teachers I have ever met. He is so helpful and really wants all of his students to learn. The class has 2 test and a project. He gives the questions to the test a week prior. Go to class and pay attention, you'll do fine.

Super knowledgeable professor who KNOWS what he's talking about. No visuals, no hand outs, all auditory learning which is a good and bad thing. The stuff he talks about is extremely valuable and often overwhelming because he's saying so many important things. Don't focus on the details but get the main concept. I definitely recommend his class. :)

very approachable guy. wants you to really understand the material by having open discussion lectures. Not easy but not a hard grader either. Even if you don't have a lot to write for the writing assignments, just make sure there is clarity and support with whatever you write. Overall a cool professor.

Interesting class. 2 tests that are essay format (he provides questions a week in advance) and a semester project. attend class, participate in discussions. Seems that he truly wants students to succeed. I took the course as an elective and learned a lot.

I was glad I decided to add this class. His lectures were interesting to me, and he is always willing to help out with any questions. Sort of feels like you need to write like a majestic goddess to get a good grade on the essays. Overall a pretty relaxing and informative course

He teaches like a philosopher. He is funny and participation would make the class more interesting. Final and midterm are essays. Questions are given at least a week before the test. There is a class project (3 options). I advise you to get the project done ASAP! Somewhat tough on grading
