Dr. Mitchell-Cook is a wonderful professor! You definitely need to attend class because she does pop quizzes on things that you learned that day. They certainly help your grade. She is very passionate about what she teaches. Utilize her office hours when writing papers because she will help you soo much. I would definitely recommend her to anyone!

Tough, fair, thorough and enthusiastic. Dr. Mitchell-Cook expects a lot but gives students the tools to achieve at a high level. It was a challenging course, but I enjoyed every minute of it.

Amy has a real passion for the maritime profession and the history of the sea. IF you want a class learning about pirates and battles then this is not for you. If you want to learn about America's place on the seas and what our ancestors had to endure and what they accomplished then sign up for it.

She's amazing and one of my fav. teachers ever. She is so nice and understanding and really cares about her students. I had a lot of bad luck and lost someone very close to me this semester and had to miss some classes which most of your grade is participation. She took the time to talk to me about it and worked it out with me so I could still pass the class. Don't stress about notes just listen to the discussion. No tests, 5 response papers, and a 10-12 pg research paper. You won't regret it

She's a fantasic teacher. Very helpful and straight forward. She tells you exactly what she wants and how. She's very fair and I'd recommend her for any body and all classes she teaches I've taken her twice and loved both experiences.

Dr. Mitchell-Cook is indeed a great teacher, but don't be fooled--work. I took a 6 week online course, and started out average as writing in historical style is the opposite of my discipline's. Ask what she wants from you and she'll get right back.Online was all from the book. Pulled out a B+ by nailing the last half and lots emails. Good though.

Dr.Mitchell-Cook was really great. Never read from the book and still got an A. 3 response papers and a research paper, but overall a great teacher. Although she doesn't pass out a sign in sheet, all her quizzes are done in class and you can't make them up usually, also her notes are given in class ONLY which make up her tests.

Grad reading seminar. Great reading list covers one book each week w/ one page paper. Presentations with 3 page papers and paper defense. Also 20 page research paper req'd. Dr Cook is very even handed and expects discussion from grad students. If you can critically read and write you will do well in her class. Start 20 page paper research early!

Great professor. Extremely helpful and always available if you are having difficulties. Lectures can be dry for non-History people, but she makes it as appealing as possible. Advice for the final paper--Start EARLY!! Exams are easy: she provides study sheets wuth EXACTLY what will be on the exam.

Mitchell-Cook is a great teacher. Her lectures can be boring if you are not a history buff. There are a couple short papers that are graded hard, and a research paper. The midterm is very easy if you study exactly what she tells you. She is very helpful out of class. She wants to help. If you work hard, the class will be easy to you.

Excellent professor, quick to help, easy to understand, the content is challenging but her disposition makes it that much easier. Great class, but an even greater instructor.

I was worried when I read her lengthy syllabus, but she ended up being really cool and helpful. The class isn't that tough and because I went into the final with an A, I didn't even have to take it! I don't know if that's standard procedure for her but it was a good surprise for me.

Very Nice Teacher. Gives you papers to write, these were graded pretty hard. Don't have to read the book if you just listen in class and take notes.

Easy class. Short papers and random pop quizes from the lecture she gave that day. gives a review sheet for midterm and final. super easy and she is always willing to help. History is my least favorite subject and i made a good grade. class is boring though. I dont suggest taking it at 8:30 am.

Pretty easy class. Go to class, there are quizzes here and there and even if you pay attention they are tough but they are only worth 10 points. Not the most interesting lectures, but not that boring either. Pretty good for general studies and she's really helpful too. I never had a problem to say the least.
AMH2010
She is very sweet and helpful if you go talk to her when you need help. Her lectures are very scattered though, but her tests are super easy...she gives an exact test review. The only thing that I did not love was that she has attendance quizzes that are over what she teaches in class and they are kinda hard. Besides that she is great.

This class was pretty interseting. She is an awesome teacher and is willing to help anytime. You do have to take notes, but as long as you come to class, it's not that bad. Just watch out for her possible T.A Cherity Lees, she's a..

Truly nice lady! KInda interesting material in the beginning then it gets really boring but you will live. Just do all the work, and take notes and you should get at least B.
EUH1001
Very good teacher. all notes are on powerpoint and if u copy them you should have an easy A. she has pop quizes which are not bad; they only cover what we went over in that class only nothing from before.

She is a very nice person. Willing to work with students and shows that she cares. Is very knowledgable about her subjects. Mostly lectures in class. Tests are not hard. Had to do lots of internet exercises describing pictures and letters written back in like the 1500s. Didnt like doing that..but its not that hard I guess. It just annoyed me. Had t

She is an absolute goddess! And, she is the smartest professor I have ever had. What an awesome teacher who really knows her stuff.

If it's possible to take a class with this woman, I suggest you do it! She could make even the most boring subject interesting. She makes sure everyone understands the material, and she is quick to help any student who needs it.

She is wonderful; she makes class a joy; the fact that she is a tall, dark-haired beauty certainly makes this history major enjoy class!
