Only teacher of required course BME111. Only points are from clicker, online quizzes, and tests. Save every quiz and share them with classmates, b/c the only thing to study for the tests are the quizzes. If you study many quizzes with friends the tests are EZ. Overall pretty easy course, but boring and pointless. DO NOT BUY THE "REQ" BOOK! NOT USED!

First off BME-111 is required for engineering degree and Pauken is only one teaching it at ASU, so you cannot avoid her...and you shouldn't. Not the best teacher in the world but above average and the material is what you'd expect for a 100 lvl class. Overall much easier than the rest of your degree will be!

EXTREMELY Hard!!I do not like science and this professor does not make it any better. Her voice is a bit odd and throws you off... Her tests are designed to confuse you! (A lot of "All of the above","None of the above","A&B only") If you memorize and share all the quizz questions you will have a better chance of acing it, but don't get ur hopes up!

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! It is horrible. The tests are nearly impossible the way that she words them. I withdrew from the class after the first test because I thought I aced it but it turns out I got a D on it. This class is required for all engineers so I switched majors and pity all the other engineers who have to take this class.

Dr. Pauken knows pretty much everything about biology and how it relates to engineering. Definitely take the quizzes seriously and always trade quizzes via email to study. Test questions are EXTREMELY similar to quiz questions. Quizzes can make or break your grade!

Dr. Pauken knows her stuff, there's not a doubt in my mind. She lectures through powerpoints and gives good explanations of whatever's on the slide. Memorize quiz questions for tests but learn at the same time because she likes to make you second guess on the tests (i.e all the above or a and b). She's a pretty nice person, even learns your name.

I really enjoyed Prof. Paukens class. It is by no means easy material but I think she does a good job explaining it. She makes herself available if you need help. Make sure you get help early on if you think you're struggling. I would take a class with her again.

This may be the worst class I've ever had to take. She loves to play this game called "Let's pick a random person in class to answer a question. Then, if you don't know the answer she acts like you're from another planet. I hated going to this class everyday. Going isn't mandatory but you get attendance points for brining your clicker for participa

Ms Pauken's social interactions reinforce the concept that a hierarchy is established by social norms rather than ability.

Do not skip lecture, do not buy the book (wikipedia ftw), be polite, FIND AN ENGINEER THAT HAS TAKEN THIS COURSE AND STUDY OFF PREVIOUS TESTS, and you'll find yourself with an easy A.

A very nice teacher that takes the time to memorize everyones names. Helpful during office hours. However, her test questions are worded very poorly making some topics, very confusing

Share quizzes and you will do fine. To get an A+, you have to be on her good side and score high. The quizzes and test are easy. No homework. She remembers everyones face, everyones.

Good overview of biology. Relating it to engineering aspects made it much more appealing to an engineering major, who won't take any more bio classes. I never used the book - save your $. She is extremely helpful during office hours and by email. Downside is that her quiz and exam questions are poorly worded and confusing.

Professor is not helpful. She talks to student like they have the vocabulary of a medical student. The on-line aspect of the course is also geared to making it difficult to study. Slides are unprofessional.

Not a good class for engineers. Grade is solely based on exam performance. No assignments or lab. If you have a good memory you will do well. You do not need the textbook only PowerPoint slides.

Being biology, subject matter is pure memorization, which can be difficult regardless of the professor. Dr. Pauken's class was fast-paced but reading the book, rereading the provided slides (which the lectures follow almost exactly), and the many office hours help fill in the gaps. Homework is short and easy while tests prove a little difficult.
