Koukal made philosophy interesting! You MUST participate in almost every class to get high participation grade. Tough grader on papers. Would recommend him though

PHL 2020 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Really into it Grade Received: N/A

One of the best professors at this University. He may be a very tough grader, especially on his papers, but when he will work with you as much as you need to get a good grade. He offers extra credit, and he really knows his stuff. If you like philosophy then you will love his classes. He will also berate you with corny jokes, but it's awesome.

PHL1500 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Meh Grade Received: N/A

I didn't like Koukal teaching logic at all. Everyday in class all we did was go over the examples in the book. He took attendance every day too. very boring!

Great teacher, but not for an intro class(Phl). After a while I played some game since I lost track of what was being said. In the end I got a passing grade, but if I would have known earlier I wouldn't have taken him to be honest. Still a great guy.

PHL1500 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Barely cracked it open Rater Interest: Sorta interested Grade Received: N/A

Koukal is a bit eccentric and a bit of a character. All of the points in the class are open book, online quizzes and online exams, so it is a fairly easy class. No essays. No graded home work.

Phil101 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: It's a must have Rater Interest: Meh Grade Received: N/A

To me this was a very hard teacher. Too caught up in his world of Philosophy. I did'nt enjoy the class at all. Way above an an intoductory class. Paper required was very difficult to write.

He is awsome professor, however grading is really tough... However he will give you a lot of help for term papers. And he is not biased! I liked to argue with him about things!

He is an amazing teacher and a funny guy! If you participate then you will do fine in the class. He is also very helpful with the final paper you need to write! I also had him for intro to philosophy and he really helps you understand the material. I enjoyed going to class.

PHL210 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: What textbook? Rater Interest: Meh Grade Received: N/A

This class was a joke, you don't even have to read the assignments he asks you too, just act like you're enjoying yourself and ask questions every now and then to make him think you really care. And you get an A. As for those who say he is liberal, he is, just pretend to agree with him and he is happy, let him think what he wants.

Dr. Koukal is extremely unfair in grading, if he doesnt like you, he doenst grade your papers fairly! If you dont think just like him, you may as well just take a different class, if you are a strong liberal, you will get along great, other than that you are screwed. So choose wisely when choosing a philosophy teacher, there are many better ones...
