Great professor! Accent is not a problem, you just have to pay attention. He is very interesting and knows what he is talking about. Not a hard class overall.

If you can get past the accent, this is a man worth learning from. If he knows you care about your grade, he will help you get it.He will make you laugh, make you think, and make you roll your eyes, but all in all, an excellent teacher.

Go to every class (only meets 1/wk most of the time anyway) and do the MCQs prior to the test. Very nice man, very passionate. Wants students to do well and literally gives you the answers to the T/F questions during his lecture and notes. Personally didn't find his accent to be that bad. No excuse for failing. No excuse not to get an 'A' really.

Hard to understand.. DO NOT take this class at 8 am.. you will never go! It's nice because you only have class like every other week because you have online discussions to do. Tests are easy if you get the mcq answers from him. Final essay sucked! Who wants to write and essay about historyyy borrringgg! "is it clear" "do u understand?"

the first day I didnt think it would be bad. he described the class being easy if you had a little back round kowlege. i think that was the only thing i understood from his mouth all year.terrible english, studders, is one sidded, and treats his students very poorly. over-all didnt learn anything in the class.

So lets say you have a wish to have a class with a teacher who looks, mutters, and acts like Elmo, only the Chinese version. Well folks, that wish can come true if you take a class taught by Tao. The ONLY minor set back with that wish is Tao's incomprehensible & gives online tests most historians would have difficulties on. Btw, 10 page final essay

HIST171 Taken for Credit:N/A Attendance: N/A Textbook Use: Essential to passing Rater Interest: Sorta interested Grade Received: N/A

From looking on here it looks like some people got study guides but all we had other than the books was an online outline of the book. Never studied harder and done this bad. Study all week before an online test and barely pass. Im in mech Eng and at least for me this class was harder than my calculus class.

worst teacher I have ever had hands down. you cant understand a word the guy says. the tests are online and are virtually impossible. even with your book and the internet they are still incredibly, incredibly difficult. I highly recommend not taking this course or any other course with him. worst decision of my life

Class is very easy. The exams are not difficult. He gives you almost all the answers in class prior to exam day. Also givesyou a packet of questions to answer and email him your answers & he will sendyou the correctones back. Some of those questionsare wordfor word on the exam, so just memorizethe answers. Hard to understand at first but get easier

Very nice guy. He is super helpful. He has a passion for what he teaches which makes it enjoyable. He is a little hard to understand due to his Chinese/Georgia accent but if you don't understand let him know and he will be gald to explain it. His test are Very Easy. A few papers in which he helps a ton. Easy Grader! Recomend for any major.

I've taken two undergrad classes and one grad level. Tao Peng is amazing. He will keep you interested in history, provide you with all the information you could want and more, all with a distinct, Chinese/Georgian accent which you can EASILY understand if you listen! He loves to involve students and will help you as much as he possibly can!!!

Let him know if he is unclear. He doesn't take offense to it. I have never had a professor so passionate about his field of expertise. The main project of the class was a twelve page+ research paper, which was actually a joy to write. Very good professor. Very good class.

Worst professor i have had by far. You can't understand a word this guy says. He asks for assignments that are apparently due, only 3 out of 30 people even heard him assign them. His study guides are exactly like the tests, but the true and false come straight from lecture, which makes them extremely hard. Avoid this professor if at all possible.

Lecture is absolutely a bore. Class name should be changed since all we seem to talk about is Chinese civilization. Ok Prof., would not suggest taking this class.
