I took this class in Spring 2014. Becker is a great professor. He knows the material well and communicates it well. His notes are abit sloppy but they are helpful when studying. He made me interested in learning Organic Chem. :) Im already enrolled for Orgo 2 with him.

I missed an exam, due to a medical condition, &he refused to let me make it up. My grade dropped from an A- to a C+. It's not right to punish a hard-working student for something that student can't control.

Dr. B is a very fair professor who cares about the students. (You realize this when you go to office hours). In class he might not like answering your ?s but in person he loves to. This class requires a lot of time and studying. You can definitely get an A/A- if you do this. I recommend going to clutch than reading the book. I'm a visual learner.

Dr. Becker is the Best! I struggled a bit at first in his class because Orgo is a bit tough to wrap your brain around, but he is SUPER clear with what he expects. Exams are not bad at all. GO TO CLUTCH! and you will for sure get an A. This class does require commitment though. His curve is extremely fair! You won't regret taking Becker

Easiness level is Hard because the subject itself is difficult but Prof Becker makes organic chem understandable. If you have to take this class, take is with Becker! Just go to class, take notes and practice. You should be fine if you do that.

He is amazing! Took him for both Org 1 and 2. Got an A in both. Don't buy the text. It's useless. Learn his notes by heart. Sometimes he puts questions from his workbook. The old exams are VERY helpful. The TAs grade the exams. Go to him if you are unhappy with your exam grade. He will regrade the exam and give you extra points. Amazing curves.

Great professor! Does not even look at the textbook, extremely smart! If you understand his notes , you will do well on his exams. Class curves are CRAZY, the lowest exam average was a 40

Make an appt if you want to get help! I never used his workbook but found Orgo As a 2nd Language was very helpful. He uses great analogies to teach hard topics. His exams are handwritten! He coddles with the easier material but speeds up at the end with the harder material. Read before class, practice problems, ask for help early, and you'll pass.

Becker is brilliant, truly enjoys organic chemistry and can recite the textbook from his head. Can be a bit sloppy, but his notes are essential to his exams. If you put in a little work, you will definitely come out satisfied. Of course if your looking for the lazy way out then you shouldn't be in college, not to mention a premed student.

I think Becker is an AMAZING professor. Yes, he takes his sweet time the first month and speeds up quickly, but that's because the SUBJECT BUILDS ON ITSELF, Most of the stuff in the end is based on the original material you learned. AWESOME PROFESSOR, very welcoming, encourages office hours, big curves. I ended up loving organic chem because of him

Let's be honest, the only reason people write good reviews about Dr. Becker is because of his exam curves. His teaching methods are archaic and disorganized. I took Dr. Keller for Orgo 1 and learned far more. This guy spends (wastes) 1 month in the easiest topic and speeds through the last two weeks. Want to really learn Organic? Don't take Becker!

One of the best professors at FIU. He gives amazing notes that will be used for the exams. Attendance not mandatory but you should definitely not miss lecture. Try to get previous exams as they will be very helpful.

Dr. Becker is an excellent professor. If you need to take Organic, then take it with him. He is very generous with his grading, I did much better than I really should have. Focus on his notes and the workbook that he developed and you should do very well.

Professor Becker knows his stuff very well, curves are amazing. You must study and practice, sometimes he puts problems straight from the notes. Tests can be really random and in the topic you think is the easiest, he puts really difficult problems on the test. I really like organic chemistry and Becker is a good teacher and his curves AMAZING!!

He is an OK professor. best part about him is the curve that he gives. I felt like i didn't learn much because i would get 40-50 on his tests but still earn an A or B...IMO that is stupid. The average for his tests were in the 30s range...to me that means that he doesn't teach the material very well and makes tests harder than what he teaches

His exams can be pretty tough, except the first 2,but his curve is a miracle of G-d.A 59 was an A- on last exam and in 30s were B's.He's an alright lecturer. But i survived because I bought "Organic chemistry I As a Second Language"and kept up with it. BUY IT!Photocopy his workbk from a friend.I would recommend him.Con:final is worth 50% of grade.

Truly a manifestation of what the idea professor should be. Unique and sincere passion in what he teaches? check. Challenging? DOUBLE check. He is awesome and if you truly put in the effort towards this class, you will exponentially expand your views on many aspects of life. Don't just take this class to get an A, Learn to appreciate it !

Amazing Professor! He teaches extremely well and prepares you for his exams. I would not consider myself someone good at organic chemistry and yet my lowest grade was a C-. On top of his amazing curves (that C- was a 19%), he still drops your lowest test grade. You still must study though, especially since the final is 50% of your final grade.

The best chemistry professor in FIU. I would say one of the best professors FIU has (he's an MIT Ph.D graduate so you can imagine how well his knowledge is on the material). Now, do NOT expect an easy A, you DO have to study and prepare well for his exams. One gets dropped and the final is hard (accounting 50% of the grade). No mastering chem.
