Professor Owens is awesome! I'm not a theater major, but you definitely don't need to be to enjoy or do well in the class. The class involves some acting and some group projects which can be fun. Would certainly recommend this class. A great way to get rid of freshmen seminar, writing, and GER 6 requirement!

This class is awesome!!!! Professor Owens sure knows his stuff. If you even consider theatre to be interesting, take this class. You will not regret it. That being said, he expects a lot out of his students (so watch out for minor errors in papers/acting scenes and whatnot) All-in-all a fantastic class with a fantastic professor

I've had multiple classes with Christopher. He is all business 100% of the time. That said. He's fantastic for when you need help, or just pop on by to see how things are going. Very supportive. And very honest! (If you want a good grade follow his instructions first before taking your work to another level).

Fantastic freshman seminar, amazing teacher, was so supportive of new ideas and was also very creative himself, a pretty lenient grader (4 and a group final project) and was just fantastic to talk to about theory in theatre. Can't wait to take him for Directing.

(Greek Geeks) Really nice guy, gets ridiculously fired up about Theatre, and causes you to do so as well. The class is much more director-oriented than reader-oriented, so don't go in expecting Shakespeare 101. You'll want an English class for that.

Overall, I found this class to be a bit of a dissappointment. I went into it very excited, after having been quite involved with theatre and productions in the past. It was very different, and very little acting was even done in the the lab! Also, make sure you're willing to do the 40-hour backstage requirement before you sign up for this class!

Christopher is all business all the time and that puts people off sometimes, and he also tends to take a "one right way to do it" approach that is a little questionable in theatre classes. That said, he is a really stand-up, brilliant, nice guy who is here to help you learn. You'll just have a bit of a learning curve while adjusting to his style.

As a teacher, Owens was very clear and his tests were straight forward. Labs were very fun. However, its required that you do 40 HOURS of work for the theatre department. NOT FUN! I got stuck with a two weekend production and, no joke, ended up doing 80 hours of work. My idea of hell.

Christopher is amazing! I loved going to his class. He is a clear lecuter and is always available to help you out (even if he is doing a gazzillion other things). Christopher, is a really dedicated prof, who will challange you and want you to succeed. I adore the man and his class.

This is a great class. It is small and focuses on discussion. Do the readings- his test questions want you to really explain yourself and require knowledge from the book. Goes above and beyond to help his students. ATTENDENCE IS A MUST- you only get one unexcused abscense before your grade is dropped. But you pay to go, and its interesting.

I loved taking my intro to theatre course with Chris Owens and was disappointed that my schedule wouldn't let me take another class with him this semester. His lectures are concise and easy to follow and the tests are very straight forward. If you do the readings... which compared to most W&M classes is really light... you will do fine.

STAY AWAY FROM THEATRE 200!! (intro) Thought it would be ok for the GER 6? Think again! Every single lecture is so stupid and pointless you wish you had signed up for the extra econ/chem/govt class instead.Actually expects you to take the class "seriously",AND has a 40 hour (yep, 40) required assignement to serve as slave labor for the theatre dept
